RESUMO Este artigo objetiva demonstrar a produtividade da utilização pedagógica do Voyant Tools (SINCLAIR; ROCKWELL, c2023), ambiente web de análise textual, na introdução à formação de (futuros) pesquisadores do léxico. Para tanto, apresentamos propostas de rodadas de discussão e de atividades práticas passíveis de adaptação para diferentes públicos-alvo, da educação básica à pós-graduação. We inscribed this research in Dialogical Discourse Analysis studies. RESUMO Neste artigo, refletimos, desde uma perspectiva discursiva, sobre o processo formal de elegibilidade de solicitantes de refúgio no Brasil. O objetivo central é sublinhar a dimensão performativa da produção do refugiado, aqui compreendido como um rótulo que depende de práticas discursivas - em especial narrativas -, de que participam os/as solicitantes, oficiais e demais atores sociais que compõem o sistema jurídico e burocrático do refúgio. ABSTRACT In this article, we reflect on the formal process of asylum eligibility in Brazil from a discursive perspective. We aim to underline the performative dimension of the refugee’s production. This label is understood here as dependent on discursive practices - especially narratives -, in which the applicants, officials, and other social actors participate. In these practices, what seems to be at stake are the narrative competencies of the asylum seeker and interviewers in shaping the migration experience into a matrix of intelligibility about human displacement and language functioning. We analyze at least two important aspects of the process: the texts of normative documents and interviews with volunteers who prepare applicants for their eligibility interviews. RESUMO O presente trabalho objetiva apresentar uma análise de um livro didático de língua inglesa com o intuito de verificar a predominância dos paradigmas do Inglês como Língua Estrangeira (ILE) e do Inglês como Língua Franca (ILF) nas atividades de compreensão oral em língua inglesa de um livro didático aprovado pelo PNLD em 2018, usado em escolas públicas do município de Ilhéus - BA. ABSTRACT This work aims to present an analysis of an English language textbook to verify the predominance of the paradigms of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in the activities of oral comprehension in English of a textbook approved by the PNLD in 2018, used in public schools in the municipality of Ilhéus - BA. RESUMO Considerando a carência de trabalhos sobre as potencialidades dos ambientes imersivos na educação, este artigo busca investigar a relevância da Realidade Aumentada no ensino e aprendizagem de vocabulário em inglês como língua estrangeira a curto e longo prazo. Investiga-se também os efeitos deste ambiente imersivo em alunos com diferentes níveis de proficiência, a saber: níveis elementar e intermediário. ABSTRACT Considering the need for studies on the potential of immersive environments in education, this paper aims to investigate the relevance of Augmented Reality in ESL/EFL in the shortand long-term vocabulary learning. It also investigates the effects of this immersive environment on students with different proficiency levels, elementary and intermediate levels. Theoretically, the study is based on the assumptions of the Embodied Cognition theory, which considers the mind and our bodily experiences with the external world as central elements in the processing and acquisition of knowledge. RESUMO Desde 1965, os Programas de Pós-Graduação no Brasil têm aplicado exames de proficiência com o objetivo de verificar a capacidade de leitura, interpretação e compreensão de textos em línguas estrangeiras. Nesses exames, a única fonte de pesquisa permitida é o dicionário impresso. ABSTRACT Since 1965, graduate Programs in Brazil, with the objective to verify the capacity to read, interpret and understand texts in foreign languages, have applied proficiency exams, in which the only research source allowed is the printed dictionary. ABSTRACT This article presents the results of a teacher training experience focused on reading, writing and orality, carried out by language teachers from the Facultad de Información y Comunicación of Universidad de la República with other teachers from the institution. It is based on two concepts: first, that teachers of the disciplines are fundamental actors in the teaching of literate academic practices and, second, that university reading, writing and oral practices, although they have common characteristics, are manifestations of disciplinary knowledge specific to each area. Our objective is to observe in what aspects the concerns about the teaching of reading, writing and orality of teachers of different subjects are common and in what aspects they differ, as well as to observe how this concern, when made explicit, is reflected in the creation of didactic resources for teaching in the disciplines. The data were collected through field notes during the individual exchange with eleven teachers of ten subjects using self-reflection questionnaires, reading and writing level descriptors, oral exchanges and the development of didactic resources. These records were qualitatively analysed, considering the variations between subjects regarding the concerns expressed. The results show a common body of concerns related mainly to writing, to a lesser extent to reading and, only in some cases, to orality. RESUMEN Este artículo presenta los resultados de una experiencia de formación docente enfocada en la lectura, la escritura y la oralidad, realizada por docentes de lengua de la Facultad de Información y Comunicación de la Universidad de la República con otros docentes de la institución. Se fundamenta en dos conceptos: primero, que los docentes de las disciplinas son actores fundamentales en la enseñanza de las prácticas académicas letradas y, segundo, que las prácticas de lectura, escritura y oralidad universitarias, aunque tienen características comunes, son manifestaciones de saberes disciplinarios específicos de cada área. Nuestro objetivo es observar en qué aspectos las inquietudes sobre la enseñanza de la lectura, la escritura y la oralidad de docentes de diferentes asignaturas son comunes y en qué aspectos difieren, así como observar cómo esa preocupación, al ser explicitada, se refleja en la creación de recursos didácticos para la enseñanza en las disciplinas. Refiro-me aqui aos questionamentos da democracia representativa que acompanhamos na série de protestos entre 2010-2013 e à discussão sobre a legitimidade das produções artísticas para representar integrantes de minorias diversas. ABSTRACT The article is dedicated to examining the link between two movements challenging representation, identified in the fields of politics and literature. I am referring here to the questioning of representative democracy that was part of the series of protests between 2010-2013 and the discussion about the legitimacy of artistic productions to represent members of diverse minorities. RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é discutir as crenças e percepções de doutorandos das áreas de Linguística, Literatura e História em relação ao conhecimento de gênero envolvidos na elaboração de projetos de tese submetidos a seleção para ingresso em curso de doutorado. A pesquisa se apoia nos pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos dos Estudos Retóricos de Gêneros (ERG), especialmente na visão de que os gêneros possuem uma realidade sociorretórica (MILLER, 1984; DEVITT, 2004) e sociocognitiva (BERKENKOTTER; HUCHIN, 2016; TSENG, 2012), a qual pode ser percebida através das expectativas genéricas e crenças dos usuários de um gênero específico. ABSTRACT The purpose of this article is to discuss the beliefs and perceptions of doctoral students in the areas of Linguistics, Literature and History, in relation to genre knowledge involved in the elaboration of thesis projects undergone to selection for admission to a doctoral course. The research is based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Rhetorical Studies of Genres, especially in the views that genres have a socio-rhetorical (MILLER, 1984; DEVITT, 2004) and socio-cognitive reality (BERKENKOTTER; HUCHIN, 2016; TSENG, 2012), which can be perceived through the generic expectations and beliefs of users of a specific genre. ABSTRACT This article aims to scrutinize the notion of multimodality through a theoretical discussion that seeks to re-present, problematize and reformulate concepts that underlie and support it, such as semiotic resource, semiotic element, semiotic system, modal affordance and semiotic modality. RESUMO Apesar do crescente número de pesquisas sobre emoções na Linguística Aplicada, poucas delas têm focado em questões relacionadas às emoções de formadores de professores de línguas. Neste artigo, apresentamos os resultados de um estudo qualitativo que investiga as perspectivas de tais formadores (em duas universidades públicas brasileiras) acerca de suas rotinas, bem estar e qualidade de vida em seus espaços de trabalho. O material empírico foi gerado através de questionários e entrevistas com 18 e 13 participantes, respectivamente. Os resultados apontam para três temas principais: a) como o espaço da universidade é imaginado, o que é geralmente dito/não dito sobre ele; b) identidades relacionadas ao tempo; e c) relações entre agência, culpa e prazer. ABSTRACT In spite of growing scholarship addressing emotions in Applied Linguistics, little research has focused on emotional issues of language teacher educators. In this article, we present the results of a qualitative study investigating the perspectives of such educators (from two public universities in Brazil) regarding their work routines, wellbeing and quality of life in their workspaces. Data were generated through questionnaires and interviews with 18 and 13 participants, respectively. Results point to three major themes: a) how the university workspace is imagined, and what is often said/unsaid about it; b) time-based identities; and c) relations between agency, guilt and pleasure.
