In this contribution, I aim to make sense of the (somewhat) uncommon and disturbing phenomenon of maternal filicide within a broader context of the so-called neglected discourse of the mother in the West. Contemporary examples of countries where maternal filicide have been recorded are Germany, South Africa, the United States and New Zealand and these instances are recounted in the introduction to illustrate the cross-cultural and transnational nature of the problem, as well as the fact that its universal appearance allows for a justifiable feminist methodology. In order to justify a cross-cultural methodological angle, I analyse four recent examples or case studies of maternal filicide in an attempt to isolate the underlying factors contributing to this horrific social phenomenon. My conclusion is that although structural realities (material and/or emotional bereftness) were the major or ultimate reasons which led to the final decision to execute, it is (neoliberal) patriarchy, and the values ensconced within this framework, that ultimately set the stage for the countdown. Apart from my brief investigation of Kristeva's (2002b) notion of abjection, in order to grasp her thinking in the context of an especially Western feminist paradigm, I also consider other theoretical models in this regard. This is an important consideration since it is in my view difficult to understand the construct of motherhood without the benefit of a wider appreciation of a general scholarship on the topic. My intention is to critically assess the myths about the social construct of motherhood, namely that such construct is in no way "natural" in the sense in which patriarchy would have us believe. These additional theoretical suggestions include a feminist appreciation of the fractured mother-daughter relationship and Hrdy's (2000) insight that women's unbounded, prehistoric sexuality had been repurposed in order to refashion motherhood as "natural". In particular, I argue, by analogy of Blumberg's (2009) notion of freaks in evolutionary biology, that the social construct of motherhood and areas of exhaustion in such a biology, evince structural similarities; since patriarchal forms of oppression force women as mothers to operate outside the boundaries of conventional social norms. I tender these considerations with the aim of reaching a more nuanced understanding of the concept of motherhood's political and ideological underpinnings. As such, I employ a feminist methodology within a transnational theoretical framework in view of motherhood being a cross-cultural phenomenon. Even though a number of theoretical trajectories are considered and employed, I argue that this approach is in fact one of the strengths of this contribution since the proliferation of feminist theoretical perspectives has been seen as being conducive to the feminist project's open-endedness, rather than patriarchy's attempt to close off the debate, as my analogous exploration of the historical course of motherhood demonstrates. I argue that this phenomenon can only be understood properly within the wider context of motherhood as a cultural, political and ideological construct with nuanced and complicated underpinnings. In this way, an indirect approach is likely to show up insights which a direct method would miss or underappreciate. I reach the conclusion that maternal filicide, significantly even as transnational, cross-cultural phenomenon, finds credible explanation in Blumberg's (2009) concept of evolutionary exhaustion. I further argue that the neglect of discourse on the mother, as Kristeva (1982) presciently pointed out, is by design, since the alternative, its proliferation, could and almost certainly would lead to the demise of m/otherhood.

Resumo Según la literatura, existe una brecha de participación en las actividades del sector cultural que amenaza la sostenibilidad de estas organizaciones. El problema ha sido ampliamente abordado en estudios de participación bajo el marco conceptual de la economía cultural, por lo que esta investigación propone estudiar el fenómeno desde la mirada amplia de la creación de valor, y bajo el marco teórico de la lógica dominante de servicio. Una investigación de esta complejidad requiere metodologías mixtas para profundizar en la construcción de modelos más precisos. El objetivo de la investigación es conocer cómo se crea valor en un entorno cultural a través de la observación de embeddedness, engagement, alignment y value-in-context en líderes de organizaciones culturales, usuarios y gestores públicos, para lo cual se toma como objeto de estudio a la Red de Puntos de Cultura del Perú (Red PDC). El diseño metodológico general incluye encuestas y entrevistas a líderes y usuarios de PDC, y un focus-group a gestores públicos. El artículo describe la metodología propuesta -secuencial explicativa- pero ofrece mayor detalle de la sección cualitativa con el propósito de evidenciar su aporte en la consecución de los objetivos.La utilización de un enfoque metodológico mixto ha permitido contar con los siguientes hallazgos: i) Engagement: la participación de los usuarios co-crea valor con las organizaciones; la participación del líder influye sobre la del equipo ii) Embeddedness: las normas y valores no compartidos entre los distintos actores del ecosistema restringe la co-creación de valor; iii) Value-in context: el valor percibido por usuarios está vinculado a educación, entretenimiento y afecto. iv) Alignment: las plataformas de interacción propuestas por la Sede Central median el valor percibido por los líderes de PDC.

Abstract According to the literature, there is a participation gap in the activities of the cultural sector that threatens the sustainability of these organizations. The problem has been widely addressed in participation studies under the conceptual framework of cultural economics, so this research proposes to study the phenomenon from the broad perspective of value creation, and under the theoretical framework of service dominant logic. Research of this complexity requires mixed methodologies to delve deeper into the construction of more precise models. The objective of the research is to know how value is co-created in a cultural environment through the observation of embeddedness, engagement, alignment and value-in-context in leaders of cultural organizations, users and public managers. The context of the study is the Network of Cultural Points of Peru (PDC Network). The general methodological design includes surveys and interviews with PDC leaders and users, and a focus group with public managers. The article describes the proposed methodology -sequential explanatory- but offers greater detail of the qualitative section in order to demonstrate its contribution to achieving the objectives. The use of a mixed methodological approach has allowed us to have the following findings: i) Engagement: the participation of users co-creates value with the organizations; the leader's participation influences that of the team ii) Embeddedness: the norms and values not shared among the different actors in the ecosystem restrict the co-creation of value; iii) Value-in context: the value perceived by users is linked to education, entertainment and affection. iv) Alignment: the interaction platforms proposed by Network Headquarters mediate the value perceived by Culture Points leaders.

Abstract In this article, I explore the notion of chronotopia as presented by Maria Marta Furlanetto (2019) in Chronotopia: A Broad-Spectrum Phenomenon. While Bakhtin limited his analysis of the phenomenon to novelistic literature, Furlanetto proposes extending it to other fields based on what she describes as figurations that arise from present historical and social markers. Consequently, I demonstrate the significance of her contribution to the study of chronotopia as a foundational element in various cultural processes. Abstract In this article, I aim to problematize ideological formations in which the relationship between literature and monolingualism is anchored, with a view to questioning traditions, epistemologies, and linguistic and curricular boundaries established in literary education. Based on the assumption that literature functions as an important driver of language policies, I propose the conceptual elaboration of a glottopolitical perspective of the literary, with the aim of discussing forms of silencing translingual practices in teaching and training readers, and to give critical visibility to the zones of contact/friction between multiple languages-cultures within literary textuality. Resumen En este artículo procuro problematizar formaciones ideológicas en las que se asienta la relación entre literatura y monolingüismo, con el fin de poner en cuestión tradiciones, epistemologías y fronteras lingüísticas y curriculares establecidas en la educación literaria. Partiendo del supuesto de que la literatura funciona como un agente importante de las políticas lingüísticas, propongo la elaboración conceptual de una perspectiva glotopolítica de lo literario, a fin de, por un lado, debatir formas de silenciamiento de las prácticas translingües en la enseñanza y la formación de lectores, y por otro, dar visibilidad crítica a las zonas de contacto/fricción entre múltiples lenguas-culturas dentro de la textualidad literaria. BACKGROUND: Early Childhood Education Institutions (ECEIs) require a model for the cultivation of religious values from an early age. Religion encompasses fundamental values that strongly instil belief in the existence of God and promote harmonious relationships among individuals. This study examines the role of ECEIs in fostering religious values in early childhood AIM: This study aims to explore the cultivation of religious values in early childhood, which includes philosophy and models of the cultivation of religious values SETTING: This research was conducted in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia METHODS: Researchers chose five early childhood educational institutions with 30 participants, teachers, and managers of early childhood educational institutions. The analytical approach used is the Discovering Cultural Themes model RESULTS: The spirit of 'Ing Ngarso Sung Tulodo, Ing Madya Mangun Karso, and Tut Wuri Handayani' serves as the philosophy guiding teachers to act as role models, inspire enthusiasm, and recognise the potential of young children. This philosophy is broken down into four main themes: 'I Love the Earth', 'I Love Indonesia', 'Playing and Cooperating/We Are All Brothers', and 'My Imagination and Creativity'. The cultivation model includes introduction, habituation, and exemplary actions by parents and teachers CONCLUSION: Philosophical values are cultivated through recognition, habituation, and example. The paper explores distinctive ways in which Kopano Matlwa's novel Evening Primrose (2018) employs continuities and discontinuities between surface-level literary expression and underlying identity and cultural literacy. It is a desktop study centred on Kopano Matlwa's novel Evening Primrose (2018) as a primary text, as well as of secondary expository texts for theoretical and earlier literary commentary that constitute the article's conceptual matrix. I demonstrate how the author's thematic manoeuvring challenges notions of determinist culture and official mapping as fixed, as well as espouse conceptions of globalism that accommodate identity and cultural heterogeneity. As I discuss stylistic dimensions of the narrative from the vantage point of the theory of ecocriticism, I include the tenets of Es'kia Mphahlele's concept of African humanism as well as the concepts of 'borderland', 'code-switching' and 'integration literacy'. My findings have led to the conclusion that the novelist's discourses are encoded in the texture of the novel in ways that portray the South African post-apartheid milieu as informed by an intricate intersection of distinctive identity and cultural literacies that the various characters display. My scrutiny of the environment-adoptive cognitive processes in the mind of Matlwa's characters has led to a novel analogy between integration identity and cultural literacy and unitary grammar, reached psycholinguistically through code-switching. CONTRIBUTION: This study provides new insights into how the novelist Kopano Matlwa employs literary discourse uniquely to explore South Africa's post-apartheid, evolving social psyche in ways that diagnostically assert alternative cultural identity intersections, readings and articulation. The paper plumbs beneath surface-level characterisation to externalise how key character categories of the novel under discussion do practicalise the potency of the post-apartheid context to forge a composite heterogeneity of cohabiting and mutually respecting cultures that have entered it. In novel ways, the theoretical matrix applied in the analysis of the novel galvanises a recognition of commonalities hitherto unidentified, mainly between tenets of originally Eurocentric ecocriticism and those of an Afrocentric African humanism. I compare the characters' successful creation of new cultural literacies, integrated with a new environment, to a successful integration of unitary grammar related to the linguistic process of code-switching. In this way, a new kind of relationship is projected between literary analysis and language learning.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 Pandemic had profound effects on healthcare systems around the world. In South Africa, field hospitals, such as the Mitchell's Plain Field Hospital, managed many COVID patients and deaths, largely without family presence. Communicating with families, preparing them for death and breaking bad news was a challenge for all staff AIM: This study explores the experiences of healthcare professionals working in a COVID-19 field hospital, specifically around having to break the news of death remotely SETTING: A150-bed Mitchells Plain Field Hospital (MPFH) in Cape Town METHODS: A qualitative exploratory design was utilised using a semi-structured interview guide RESULTS: Four themes were identified: teamwork, breaking the news of death, communication and lessons learnt. The thread linking the themes was the importance of teamwork, the unpredictability of disease progression in breaking bad news and barriers to effective communication. Key lessons learnt included effective management and leadership. Many families had no access to digital technology and linguo-cultural barriers existed CONCLUSION: We found that in the Mitchell's Plain Field Hospital, communication challenges were exacerbated by the unpredictability of the illness and the impact of restrictions on families visiting in preparing them for bad news. We identified a need for training using different modalities, the importance of a multidisciplinary team approach and for palliative care guidelines to inform practice CONTRIBUTION: Breaking the news of death to the family is never easy for healthcare workers. Abstract This paper aims to deepen, on the basis of studies personally conducted, further facets of a little-known late Byzantine epyllion (the Theanó by Michael Choniates), and yet extremely interesting both from a literary and a more broadly cultural point of view. In particular, we will focus on two sections of the poem, that is the proem and the inspired revelation of the (neo)pythagorean Theanó, announced from the very beginning of the poem. For the purpose of facilitating the consultation of the text and its first translation to a modern language, the lines examined are reproduced as annex to the following contribution.

Sommario Il presente contributo si propone di approfondire, sulla scia di studi già personalmente condotti, ulteriori sfaccettature di un epillio tardo-bizantino poco noto (Michele Coniata, Theanó), eppure estremamente interessante sia sotto il profilo letterario che sotto quello più latamente culturale. In particolar modo ci soffermeremo su due sezioni del poema, ovvero il proemio e la rivelazione ispirata della (neo)pitagorica Theanó, annunciata, non a caso, fin dal principio del poemetto. Resumen El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar el aporte de los/las músicos/músicas locales en el diseño, negociación e implementación de las políticas culturales que la Dirección General de Cultura, Artes y Espectáculos (DGCAyE), de la Municipalidad de Avellaneda, diseñó para contribuir a la igualdad en el acceso, la participación y la producción cultural. De esta manera, mediante la exploración de la articulación entre la DGCAyE y los/las músicos/músicas locales que participaron en instancias municipales de debate, se espera contribuir al estudio de los cruces entre cultura y diseño. Considero a las políticas culturales como un campo de negociación y disputa en donde intervienen agentes no sólo estatales, de este modo, pienso a los/las músicos/músicas como actores que asumen un papel central en el diseño social. Focalizaré en el Primer Foro de Cultura y en la Mesa de Gestión y Coordinación de Actividades Musicales de Avellaneda -la cual buscó promover el trabajo participativo, organizativo y colectivo de los/las músicos/músicas locales- y en las políticas culturales dirigidas a la actividad musical local que de allí surgieron. Para ello, entre junio de 2017 y junio de 2018 realicé trabajo de campo en la localidad de Avellaneda y analicé fuentes primarias y secundarias.

Abstract The objective of this work is to analyze the contribution of local musicians / musicians in the design, negotiation and implementation of cultural policies that the General Directorate of Culture, Arts and Entertainment (DGCAyE), of the Municipality of Avellaneda, designed to contribute to equality in access, participation and cultural production. In this way, by exploring the articulation between the DGCAyE and the local musicians / musicians who participated in municipal instances of debate, it is hoped to contribute to the study of the crossings between culture and design. Cultural policies are considered as a field of negotiation and dispute in which not only state agents intervene, in this way, I think of musicians / musicians as actors that assume a central role in social design. Focus will be placed on the First Forum of Culture and on the Management and Coordination Table of Musical Activities of Avellaneda -which sought to promote the participatory, organizational and collective work of local musicians / music- and on cultural policies aimed at local musical activity that emerged there. To do this, between June 2017 and June 2018 I did field work in the town of Avellaneda and analyzed primary and secondary sources.

Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a contribuição de músicos / músicos locais no desenho, negociação e implementação de políticas culturais que a Direção Geral de Cultura, Artes e Entretenimento (DGCAyE), do município de Avellaneda, destinou a contribuir para a igualdade no acesso, participação e produção cultural. Assim, ao explorar a articulação entre a DGCAyE e os músicos / músicos locais que participaram de instâncias municipais de debate, espera-se contribuir para o estudo dos cruzamentos entre cultura e design. As políticas culturais são consideradas como um campo de negociação e disputa em que não apenas agentes estatais intervêm, assim, penso nos músicos / músicos como atores que assumem um papel central no design social. O foco será colocado no Primeiro Fórum da Cultura e na Tabela de Gerenciamento e Coordenação de Atividades Musicais de Avellaneda -que procurou promover o trabalho participativo, organizacional e coletivo de músicos / música locais- e em políticas culturais voltadas para atividade musical local que surgiu lá. Based on a meticulous bibliographical reconstruction, the book establishes that the discovery of the Inkarri mythical cycle between 1955 and 1956 originated the most widespread and influential lettered vision of Andean mentalities. The Peruvian intelligentsia postulates indigenous peasants as having mythical roots and messianic projection from this discovery. Los juicios finales analyzes the impact of this vision on the social sciences, literature, and visual arts. In this bibliographic review, in addition to examining each section and chapter, I identify the centrality of two figures for the book’s objectives and organization: José María Arguedas (who was the most creative disseminator of the new perspective on Andean mentalities) and Alberto Flores Galindo (whose thesis on the "Andean utopia" has substantial differences from that of "Andean messianism"). Finally, this bibliographic review comments on some limitations of Los juicios finales, particularly the absence of an intersectional perspective of gender, race, and class that relativizes the scene (invoked in the introduction) of the "encounter between the intellectual and the Andean man."

RESUMEN Los juicios finales, el último y más ambicioso libro de crítica de Peter Elmore, es una contribución fundamental al estudio del campo cultural e intelectual peruano en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Sustentado en una minuciosa reconstrucción bibliográfica, el libro establece que el hallazgo del ciclo mítico de Inkarri entre 1955 y 1956 fue el origen de la visión letrada más difundida e influyente de las mentalidades andinas. A partir de este descubrimiento, la intelligentsia peruana postula que el campesinado indígena tiene una mentalidad de raíz mítica y de proyección mesiánica. En Los juicios finales, Elmore analiza el impacto de esta visión en las ciencias sociales, la literatura y las artes plásticas. En esta nota de comentario bibliográfico, además de examinar cada sección y capítulo, identifico la centralidad de dos figuras para los objetivos y la organización del libro: José María Arguedas (quien fue el difusor más creativo de la nueva perspectiva sobre las mentalidades andinas) y Alberto Flores Galindo (cuya tesis sobre la "utopía andina" tiene diferencias sustanciales con la del "mesianismo andino"). Abstract In this article we present the case study of the visual album of the singer and composer Luedji Luna, Bom Mesmo é Estar Debaixo d'Água (2020) with the objective of evaluating the contribution of black feminist women to the current music scene in Salvador. À travers de telles études, nous cherchons à situer, analyser et interpréter les actions de la pensée politique et éducative de Darcyn. Abstract Our reflections result from studies conducted since the last decade on Darcy Ribeiro's educational projects as a politician and manager of educational initiatives. Through these studies, we seek to situate, analyze, and interpret the “makings” of Darcy's political and educational thought. By inventorying his production, his relationship with Anísio Teixeira, and his implemented projects, we focus on one of his main experiences in the educational field: the I Special Education Program (I PEE), a guiding document that defined the conception and actions from the cultural educational field of Leonel de Moura Brizola, the Rio de Janeiro governor elected in 1983. Através de tais estudos, procuramos situar, analisar e interpretar os fazimentos do pensamento político e educacional darcyniano. RIASSUNTO Il contributo si propone di gettare nuova luce sull’opera della “Commissione dei libri” interna alla “Dante Alighieri” nel primo Novecento. Si farà leva su un variegato novero di fonti, tra cui le relazioni del primo presidente Arturo Galanti. In particolare, l’azione condotta dalla “Dante” per la diffusione di libri gratuiti per gli emigranti italiani rientra nella sfera d’interesse portata con il Presidente Villari all’emigrazione e alle scuole italiane all’estero, coniugando l’esigenza di diffondere la lingua e la cultura italiana con quella di contrastare la “snazionalizzazione” e il rischio dell’oblio di quanti si separavano dalla patria. Ma quali erano i libri spediti gratuitamente fuori dal Regno? Quali i destinatari, tra cui scuole, educatori, patronati? Quali i luoghi di arrivo, in Europa, nelle Americhe e fino all’Australia?Sono questi alcuni interrogativi cui il lavoro intende restituire risposte. ABSTRACT The contribution aims to shed new light on the internal “Book Commission”’s work of the “Dante Alighieri” in the early twentieth century. It will draw on many sources, including the reports of the first president Arturo Galanti. In particular, the action carried out by the “Dante” for the dissemination of free books for Italian emigrants falls within the sphere of interest brought with President Villari to emigration and Italian schools abroad, to flight against the “nationalization” and the risk of oblivion of those who were separated from their homeland. But what were the books sent free of charge outside the Kingdom? Which recipients, including schools, educators, patronages? RESUMO O artigo traz uma nova luz ao trabalho da “Comissão de livros” interna à Sociedade “Dante Alighieri” no início do século XX. Serão alavancadas várias fontes, entre as quais as relações do primeiro presidente Arturo Galanti. Em particular, a ação conduzida pela “Dante” para difusão de livros gratuitos para os emigrantes italianos é parte de esfera de interesse trazida desde o início pelo presidente Villari a emigração e às escolas no exterior, combinando a necessidade de difundir a língua e a cultura italiana com a de contrariar a “desnacionalização” e o risco de oblívio daqueles separados da pátria. Quais eram os livros enviados gratuitamente para fora do Reino? Quais os destinatários, entre os quais, escolas, educadores, patriotas? RESUMO O objetivo da presente discussão é refletir sobre o Brasil literário nos mapas-múndi das literaturas, conforme expressão e conceito de Lambert (1990), e sobre o espaço literário internacional, segundo Casanova (1999), em contraponto à chamada literatura mundial de Damrosch (2003). Portanto, num primeiro momento, apresento um panorama teórico com as reflexões e ideias de Lambert e Casanova em contraste com as de Damrosch, e mostro, num segundo momento, qual a contribuição do Brasil literário, principalmente a partir da visão de mundo plural de Casanova e Lambert, nos mapas-múndi das literaturas envolvendo traduções de ficção no sistema cultural e literário francês contemporâneo. Uso, para tanto, documentação oficial oriunda das Feiras de Livro de Paris, da Embaixada Brasileira em Paris e dos catálogos das editoras francesas que publicam traduções da literatura ficcional brasileira.

ABSTRACT The objective of the present discussion is to reflect on literary Brazil in the World Maps of literatures, according to the expression and concept of Lambert (1990); and on the international literary space according to Casanova (1999), as opposed to Damrosch’s so-called “world literature”(2003). Therefore, at first, I present a theoretical panorama with the reflections and ideas of Lambert and Casanova in counterpoint to those of Damrosch, and I show, in a second moment, what the contribution of literary Brazil is, mainly from the plural worldview of Casanova and Lambert, in the world maps of literatures involving fiction translations in the contemporary French cultural and literary system. For this purpose, I use official documentation from the Paris Book Fairs, the Brazilian Embassy in Paris and the catalogs of French publishers that publish translations of Brazilian fictional literature.
