RESUMO Os fungicidas utilizados para o controle da ferrugem asiática da soja são constituídos por misturas entre os modos de ação sistêmicos (triazóis) e meso-sistêmicos (estrobilurinas). Entretanto, para o controle do míldio da soja, existem disponíveis apenas fungicidas protetores. Objetivou-se avaliar a eficácia de fungicidas com diferentes modos de ação no controle de míldio e ferrugem asiática da soja. Realizou-se experimento a campo, em delineamento de blocos casualizados, constituído de sete tratamentos [controle negativo; difeconazole em V7 + (azoxystrobina + ciproconazole) em R2 e R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) em V7 + (azoxystrobina + tebuconazole) em R2 e R5.1; carbendazim e mancozebe em V7 + (azoxystrobina + tebuconazole) em R2 e R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) em V7 + mancozebe em V7 + (azoxystrobina + tebuconazole) em R2 e R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) em V7 + (azoxystrobina + tebuconazole) em R2 e R5.1 + mancozebe em R2 e R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) em V7 + azoxystrobina + tebuconazole em R2 e R5.1 + mancozebe em R2 e R5.1 + carbendazim em R5.1] e quatro repetições. Os parâmetros avaliados foram: severidade das doenças baseada em escalas diagramáticas, fitotoxidez, eficácia de produtos, desfolha, número de vagens por planta, número de grãos por vagem, massa de mil grãos e produtividade. Os tratamentos com adição do mancozebe mostraram-se mais eficientes na redução da severidade de míldio e ferrugem asiática da soja e desfolha, aumentando a produtividade de grãos da cultura. Para o míldio da soja, os tratamentos com adição de mancozebe a benzimidazol, estrobilurinas e triazóis foram mais eficazes na redução da severidade e no controle.

ABSTRACT Fungicides used to control the Asian soybean rust are composed almost entirely of mixtures involving the systemic (triazoles) and meso-systemic (strobilurins) modes of action. However, to control the soybean downy mildew, only protective fungicides are available. The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of fungicides with different modes of action in the control of downy mildew and Asian soybean rust. A field experiment was carried out in a randomized block design, with seven treatments [negative control; difenoconazole at V7 + (azoxystrobin + cyproconazole) at R2 and R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) at V7 + (azoxystrobin + tebuconazole) at R2 and R5.1; carbendazim and mancozeb at V7 + (azoxystrobin + tebuconazole) at R2 and R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) at V7 + mancozeb in V7 + (azoxystrobin + tebuconazole) at R2 and R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) at V7 + (azoxystrobin + tebuconazole) at R2 and R5.1 + mancozeb at R2 and R5.1; (tebuconazole + carbendazim) at V7 + azoxystrobin + tebuconazole at R2 and R5.1 + mancozeb at R2 and R5.1 + carbendazim at R5.1] and four replicates. The following variables were evaluated: disease severity based on diagrammatic scales, phytotoxicity, product effectiveness, defoliation, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, 1,000-seed weight and yield. The treatments with mancozeb addition showed to be more efficient in reducing the severity of mildew and Asian soybean rust and defoliation, providing increased seed yields for the crop. For the soybean downy mildew, the treatments with addition of mancozeb to benzimidazole, strobilurins and triazoles were more efficient in reducing the severity and for the control.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a ação in vitro do silicato de potássio e de alumínio, em várias concentrações (0,0; 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0; 2,5; 3,0 e 10,0 %), sobre dez isolados de Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens (Cff). O fungicida tolylfluanid foi utilizado como testemunha positiva. Os discos de papel embebidos nos produtos, em diferentes concentrações, foram colocados no centro de cada placa de Petri após a solidificação do meio de cultura (NSA) contendo a bactéria e as aferições dos halos de inibição foram realizadas após 48 h de incubação. Verificou-se que o silicato de potássio (Supa Sílica®) não afetou o crescimento de Cff, enquanto que o silicato de alumínio (Rocksil®) teve ação inibitória aos isolados avaliados.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro action of potassium and aluminum silicate, at various concentrations (0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 10.0 %), on isolates of Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens (Cff). The fungicide tolylfluanid was used as a positive control. Paper discs embedded with the test compounds at different concentrations were placed in the center of each Petri dish after solidification of the culture medium (NSA) containing the bacterium, and the measurements of inhibition halos were performed after 48 h incubation. Potassium silicate (Supa Sílica®) did not affect the growth of Cff, while the aluminum silicate (Rocksil®) had an inhibitory action on the evaluated isolates.

A Bixa orellana L. é uma planta perene denominada urucu ou urucum, pertencente à família Bixaceae, muito utilizada na culinária, devido às suas propriedades de corante natural, cuja germinação é dificultada, devido às suas características próprias. Objetivou-se elucidar o mecanismo de dormência das sementes de urucum e avaliar o efeito de diferentes métodos para a sua quebra, aliados a diferentes temperaturas para a germinação. Os mecanismos de escarificação utilizados foram: químico (com ácido sulfúrico concentrado e etanol, em imersão por cinco minutos), físico (escarificação com lixa) e térmico (em água a 70ºC, por dois minutos, e, em seguida, sob temperaturas de 20ºC, 25ºC, 30ºC e 20-30ºC, para germinação). Avaliou-se a quantidade de água embebida pelas sementes e percentagem, primeira contagem e índice de velocidade de germinação, assim como o comprimento do hipocótilo e da raiz principal. Para as sementes que não germinaram, aplicou-se o teste de tetrazólio, para verificar a sua viabilidade. Concluiu-se que os tratamentos utilizados para a quebra da dormência não afetaram a viabilidade das sementes de urucum. Recomenda-se a escarificação com lixa ou ácido sulfúrico, por cinco minutos, e as temperaturas de 25ºC ou 20-30ºC.

Bixa orellana L. is a perennial plant known as annatto or achiote, which belongs to the Bixaceae family and is widely used in cooking, due to its properties of natural dye, whose germination is affected by its own characteristics. This study aimed at elucidating the dormancy mechanism of annatto seeds and evaluating the effect of different methods for breaking it, under different germination temperatures. The scarification methods were: chemical (with concentrated sulfuric acid and ethanol, under immersion for five minutes), physical (scarification with sand paper) and thermic (in water at 70ºC, for two minutes, and then under temperatures of 20ºC, 25ºC, 30ºC and 20-30ºC, for germination). The amount of water absorbed by seeds, and percentage, first counting and germination rate, as well as hypocotyl and taproot length, were evaluated. For the seeds that did not germinate, the tetrazolium test was applied to verify their viability. It was concluded that the treatments used for dormancy breaking did not affect the annatto seeds viability. Scarification with sand paper or sulfuric acid, for five minutes, and temperatures of 25ºC or 20-30ºC are recommended.

Avaliou-se a reação de 73 cultivares locais de feijoeiro, coletadas em Santa Catarina, à murcha-de-curtobacterium, causada por Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens. Os experimentos foram instalados em condições de casa-de-vegetação e as cultivares IAC Carioca Pyatã e IPR 88 - Uirapuru foram os padrões resistente e suscetível, respectivamente. Aos 10 dias após a emergência, houve a inoculação das plantas com o isolado FJ 36 e as avaliações dos sintomas ocorreram aos 10, 14, 21 e 28 dias após a inoculação. Foi possível identificar as cv. locais Mouro Piratuba (grupo de coloração variada) e Vagem Amarela (grupo preto) como fontes de resistência à murcha-de-curtobacterium.

It was evaluated the reaction of 73 common bean land races, collected in Santa Catarina State, to the bacterial wilt, caused by Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens. The experiments were set up under greenhouse conditions and the cultivars IAC Carioca Pyatã and IPR 88 - Uirapuru were the resistant and susceptible standards, respectively. The inoculation with the strain FJ 36 was done in the 10th day after the sowing and the disease evaluations were at the 10, 14, 21 and 28th day after the inoculation. The landraces Mouro Piratuba (color bean group) and Vagem Amarela (black bean group) were identified as resistance sources of bacterial wilt of bean.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de doses de potássio (K) na severidade da murcha-de-curtobacterium em três cultivares de feijoeiro (IAC Carioca Pyatã, IPR 88 - Uirapuru e SCS 202 - Guará), em condições de casa-de-vegetação. Os tratamentos foram 135,0; 112,5; 90,0; 67,5 e 45,0 kg.ha-1 de K2O, na forma de cloreto de potássio. As avaliações ocorreram aos 5, 10, 15, 20 e 25 dias após a inoculação e foi estimada a área abaixo da curva de progresso da murcha-de-curtobacterium (AACPMC). Não foi verificada influência das doses de K2O na AACPMC e na quantidade de K na parte aérea de plantas das cultivares IAC Carioca Pyatã e IPR 88 - Uirapuru. Conforme o aumento das doses de K2O, somente houve incremento na massa da matéria seca das plantas não inoculadas da cultivar SCS 202-Guará.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of potassium (K) levels in the bacterial wilt severity in three bean cultivars (IAC Carioca Pyatã, IPR 88 - Uirapuru and SCS 202 - Guará), under greenhouse conditions. The treatments were 135.0, 112.5, 90.0, 67.5 and 45.0 kg.ha-1 of K2O, using potassium chloride. The evaluations were performed at 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 days after the inoculation and it was estimated the area under the bacterial wilt progress curve (AUBWPC). Neither the AUBWPC nor the K content in the aerial part of the IAC Carioca Pyatã and IPR 88 - Uirapuru cultivars were affected by the K2O levels. As K2O levels increased, the dry mass weight also increased, but only in the non-inoculated plants of the SCS 202-Guará cultivar.

Foi avaliada a influência de doses de nitrogênio (N) na severidade da murcha-de curtobacterium do feijoeiro, causada por Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens, nas cultivares IAC Pyatã, IPR 88 Uirapuru e SCS 202 Guará, em condições de casa-de-vegetação. Os tratamentos foram a dose recomendada de N e outras 25 e 50 % abaixo e acima desta, empregando-se uréia. O aumento de doses de N influenciou positivamente o progresso da murcha-de-curtobacterium somente na cultivar IAC Carioca Pyatã, incrementou a quantidade de N na parte aérea e não interferiu no peso da matéria seca das plantas de todas as cultivares avaliadas.

It was evaluated the influence of nitrogen (N) levels in the severity of bean bacterial wilt, caused by Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens, in the cultivars IAC Pyatã, IPR 88 Uirapuru, and SCS 202 Guará, under greenhouse conditions. The treatments consisted of the recommended level of N and rates 25% and 50% lower or higher than that, using urea as N source. The higher levels of N increased the progress of the bacterial wilt only in the cultivar IAC Carioca Pyatã. The N content in the plant aerial part did not interfere with the dry mass weight of any cultivars tested.

Avaliou-se a ocorrência da murcha-de-curtobacterium em lavouras de feijoeiro comum em algumas localidades do Estado de Santa Catarina, nas safras 2002/03 e 2003/04, e o comportamento dos genótipos BRS Valente, Carioca, CHC 97-29, CHP 97-26, CNPF 8104, Diamante Negro, Empasc 201 - Chapecó, IAPAR 44, IPR Graúna, IPR Juriti, IPR Uirapuru, LP 9728, Pérola, SCS 202-Guará, Sel. CP 9310635, TPS Bionobre, TPS Bonito, TPS Magnífico, TPS Nobre, TPS Soberano e Xamego perante Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens (Cff), em condições de casa-de-vegetação. As cultivares IAC Carioca Akytã, IAC Carioca Aruã e IAC Carioca Pyatã foram empregadas como padrões de resistência a Cff. As avaliações dos sintomas ocorreram aos 5, 10, 15, 20 e 25 dias após a inoculação (DAI) e, posteriormente, foi estimada a área abaixo da curva de progresso da murcha-de-curtobacterium (AACPMC), em cada genótipo. A doença esteve presente nos municípios de Campos Novos, Faxinal dos Guedes, Guatambu, Ipuaçu, Ponte Serrada e Tigrinhos e que, aos 10 DAI, as cultivares SCS 202 - Guará e IPR Juriti mostraram baixa severidade. Porém, aos 25 DAI, somente as cultivares padrões foram resistentes e apresentaram menor AACPMC.

It was evaluated the occurrence of bacterial wilt in localities of Santa Catarina State, during the harvest of 2002/03 and 2003/04, and the behavior of the genotypes BRS Valente, Carioca, CHC 97-29, CHP 97-26, CNPF 8104, Diamante Negro, Empasc 201 - Chapecó, IAPAR 44, IPR Graúna, IPR Juriti, IPR Uirapuru, LP 9728, Pérola, SCS 202 - Guará, Sel. CP 9310635, TPS Bionobre, TPS Bonito, TPS Magnífico, TPS Nobre, TPS Soberano and Xamego to Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens (Cff), under greenhouse conditions. The cultivars IAC Carioca Akytã, IAC Carioca Aruã, and IAC Carioca Pyatã were used as patterns of resistance to Cff. The evaluations of the symptoms were performed at 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 days after inoculation (DAI) and, subsequently, the area under the bacterial wilt progress curve (AUBWPC) was estimated in each genotype. The disease was detected in Campos Novos, Faxinal dos Guedes, Guatambu, Ipuaçu, Ponte Serrada and Tigrinhos. The cultivars SCS 202 - Guará and IPR Juriti showed low wilt severity at 10 DAI. However, at 25 DAI, only the pattern cultivars were resistant and exhibited low AUBWPC.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a sobrevivência de um isolado de Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. manihotis (Xam), resistente ao sulfato de estreptomicina, em manipueira incubada em condições ambientais, em três épocas (março, julho e outubro de 2000). Foram utilizados um meio de cultura semi-seletivo para o isolamento de X. axonopodis pv. manihotis e a técnica de reação de polimerase em cadeia (PCR) ou de amplificação biológica (BIO-PCR). Foram determinados o pH e a acidez total da manipueira durante o período de incubação estudado. O isolado sobreviveu por um período inferior a 24 horas, nas três épocas do ano. A técnica de PCR ou BIO-PCR não foi eficaz em monitorar a sobrevivência do isolado em manipueira, pois apresentou resultados contraditórios e não confiáveis. Observou-se queda do pH e aumento da acidez total da manipueira incubada nas condições estudadas, que pode explicar o comportamento da sobrevivência de Xam em manipueira.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the survival of a Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. manihotis (Xam) strain, resistant to streptomycin sulfate, in "manipueira" (cassava residue) incubated under environmental conditions, in three periods of the year (March, July and October 2000). A semi-selective culture medium and the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or biological amplification (BIO-PCR) methods were used. The pH and the total acidity of the "manipueira" were determined during the incubation period. The strain survived less than 24 hours in the three periods of the year. The PCR or BIO-PCR method was not effective in monitoring the strain survival in "manipueira", as it showed contradictory and unreliable results. An increase in total acidity and a decrease in pH of the "manipueira" were observed, explaining the survival behavior of Xam strain.

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a sensibilidade in vitro e in vivo de um isolado de Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis (Cmm) aos produtos cloridrato de kasugamicina, fulusulfamide e oxitetraciclina. Para o teste in vitro, foram avaliados os halos de inibição formados ao redor de discos de papel de filtro umedecidos com os produtos, nas concentrações de 0, 1, 10, 100 e 1000 mig mL-1, 24 h após a instalação do ensaio. Quanto à avaliação dos produtos in vivo, dois ensaios foram instalados sob condições de casa-de-vegetação, com plantas de tomateiro cultivar Ângela Hiper, através da inoculação das plantas por dois métodos: pulverização foliar e ferimento no caule. Nos dois ensaios, as plantas foram pulverizadas com os produtos cloridrato de kasugamicina a 0,06 mL L-1, fulusulfamide a 0,025, 0,05 e 0,075 mL L-1 e oxitetraciclina a 0,40 g L-1, duas vezes antes e duas vezes após a inoculação, em intervalos médios de 5-7 dias. Foram avaliados a incidência de folíolos doentes (inoculação foliar) e a severidade dos sintomas nas plantas inoculadas por ferimento no caule. Verificou-se que o isolado de Cmm foi sensível in vitro ao cloridrato de kasugamicina, ao fulusulfamide e à oxitetraciclina, respectivamente a partir das concentrações de 1000, 100 e 10 mig mL-1. Com relação aos ensaios in vivo, apenas oxitetraciclina propiciou menor incidência de folíolos doentes nas plantas inoculadas através de pulverização foliar; nenhum produto teve êxito em controlar a doença nas plantas inoculadas por ferimento no caule. O fulusulfamide, em todas as concentrações, foi fitotóxico aos folíolos das plantas de tomateiro.

An experiment was carried out to evaluate the in vivo and in vitro sensibility of a Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. michiganensis isolate (Cmm) to the products kasugamicyn cloridrate, fulusulfamide and oxytetracicline. In the in vitro tests, the inhibition formed around the discs of filter papers soaked with the chemicals was evaluated, for concentrations of 0, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 mug mL-1, 24 h after the installation of the experiment. In the in vivo evaluation, two experiments were installed under greenhouse conditions, with tomato plants cv. Ângela Hiper and two methods of inoculation: leaf spray and stem injury. In both experiments, the plants were sprayed with 0.06 mL L-1 of kasugamicyn chloridrate, 0.025, 0.05 and 0.075 mL L-1 of fulusulfamide and 0.40 g L-1 of oxytetracycline, twice before and twice after the inoculations, at intervals of 5 to 7 days. The incidence of diseased leaves (inoculation by leaf spray) and the severity of the symptoms in the plants inoculated by stem injury was evaluated. The Cmm isolate was in vitro sensitive to kasugamicyn chloridrate, fulusulfamide and oxytetracycline in the respective concentrations of 1000, 100 and 10 mug mL-1. Only the oxytetracycline promoted a lower incidence of diseased leaves in the plants inoculated by leaf spray. None of the chemicals had success in the disease control (inoculation by stem injury). The fulusulfamide, in all concentrations, was toxic to the leaves of tomato plants.
