ABSTRACT Root-knot nematodes cause a significant reduction in the productivity of the gilo due to physiological stress. Incorporating organic residue into the soil has a positive effect in reducing nematode infestation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the addition of organic residue on the reproduction of Meloidogyne javanica and its role in the physiology of the gilo. One-litre pots, each containing one gilo seedling, were inoculated with 5000 eggs of M. javanica and the following treatments evaluated: 1) no inoculation and no residue (NIR); 2) NIR; 3) 12.5 g L-1 poultry manure; 4) 25 g L-1 cattle manure; 5) 20 g L-1 filter cake; 6) 5 g L-1 of the shoots of Tagetes patula; 7) 6.25 g L-1 of the shoots of Brassica oleracea var. capitata; 8) 20 mL L-1 vinasse and 9) 1 mL Abamectin-based commercial product (18 g L-1 a.i.). A randomised block design was used, with six repetitions. Gas exchange variables were evaluated 15, 30 and 45 days after inoculation with the nematode (DAI) and the vegetative and nematological variables at 60 DAI. The treatments that included cattle manure and filter cake afforded the best physiological rate and development in the gilo. The best results in controlling the nematode were given by the poultry manure, cattle manure and filter cake, reducing the reproduction of M. javanica by 41.76, 51.44 and 52.40%, respectively. Based on the results, poultry manure, cattle manure and filter cake are efficient in controlling M. javanica and show potential to be used in the integrated management of M. javanica in the gilo.

ABSTRACT In this quantitative study, through Multiple Correspondence Analysis, we explored the existence of a statistically significant association between conventional and alternative organizational characteristics and the attribution of satisfaction or dissatisfaction at work. The study had 172 respondents participating in an online survey. The results indicate that all characteristics of conventional organizations, to a greater or lesser extent, were associated with the perception of dissatisfaction, whereas characteristics of alternative organizations, in the same way, were associated with satisfaction. Four dimensions of comparison between conventional and alternative organizational modes stood out in terms of contribution and relevance, namely: i) technical orientation (efficiency versus conviviality); ii) economic orientation (growth versus sufficiency); iii) commercial orientation (market versus community); and iv) inter-organizational orientation competition vers(us cooperation). The results, specifically, show that the technical orientation toward productive efficiency, as well as the commercial orientation toward the market, is, at a strong level, associated with dissatisfaction, while the cooperative inter-organizational orientation is strongly associated with satisfaction. The investigation sheds light on a better understanding of organizational modes that oppose the dominant conventional logic.

RESUMO Neste estudo quantitativo, por meio da Análise de Correspondência Múltipla, exploramos a existência de associação estatisticamente significativa entre as características organizacionais convencionais e alternativas e a atribuição da satisfação ou insatisfação no trabalho. O estudo contou com 172 respondentes participantes de uma survey online. Os resultados indicam que todas as características de organizações convencionais, em maior ou menor nível, associaram-se à percepção de insatisfação, enquanto características de organizações alternativas, da mesma forma, associaram-se à satisfação. Quatro dimensões de comparação entre modos organizacionais convencionais e alternativos se destacaram quanto à contribuição e relevância, a saber: i) orientação técnica (eficiência versus convivencialidade), ii) orientação econômica (crescimento versus suficiência), iii) orientação comercial (mercado versus comunidade) e, iv) orientação interorganizacional (competição versus cooperação). Os resultados, especificamente, apontam que a orientação técnica para a eficiência produtiva, assim como a orientação comercial para o mercado estão, em nível forte, associadas à insatisfação, enquanto que a orientação interorganizacional cooperativa está fortemente associada à satisfação. A investigação lança luz para o melhor entendimento sobre modos organizacionais que se contrapõem à lógica convencional dominante.

Resumo Introdução: A criança submetida ao transplante de medula óssea (TMO) pode se sentir fora do controle de sua rotina, pois seus vínculos sociais e afetivos foram interrompidos pela internação prolongada. Objetivo: Compreender os sentimentos experimentados pelo familiar acompanhante em relação ao cuidado à criança/adolescente após o TMO no hospital. Método: Estudo descritivo-exploratório, qualitativo, desenvolvido em uma instituição privada da cidade de São Paulo, Brasil, com seis familiares de crianças submetidas ao TMO. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista semiestruturada após aprovação do estudo pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da instituição (no: 3.955.196). Utilizou-se a análise qualitativa dos dados, segundo o modelo de categorias temáticas de Minayo. Após a transcrição literal das entrevistas, realizou-se leitura abrangente para se obter uma percepção inicial dos relatos. Leituras sucessivas permitiram destacar trechos significativos, agrupados inicialmente a partir das diferenças temáticas no processo de categorização e, posteriormente, agregados por semelhança de conteúdo. A síntese dos discursos deu-se pela aproximação dos pressupostos teóricos aos dados empíricos. Resultados: A partir dos relatos, emergiram cinco categorias que evidenciam a mudança no cotidiano familiar em função do transplante e o seu impacto nas expectativas futuras do acompanhante em relação à saúde da criança, a importância do suporte da equipe multidisciplinar no hospital, o papel fundamental de rede de apoio social e o turbilhão de sentimentos vivenciados pelo acompanhante nesse momento difícil em sua vida. Considerações finais: Conhecer as experiências de familiares acompanhantes da criança hospitalizada submetida ao TMO revela a necessidade de adaptações de todos os envolvidos à nova rotina e do fortalecimento do vínculo com a equipe multiprofissional, que deve se sensibilizar às preocupações da família. Os resultados evidenciam o mérito da abordagem qualitativa para investigações em que situações envolvendo vivências e sentimentos de crianças e familiares sejam contemplados no contexto da saúde.

Abstract Introduction: Children undergoing bone marrow transplantation (BMT) may feel out of control of their routine, as their social and affective bonds were interrupted by prolonged hospitalization. Objective: Understanding the feelings experienced by the accompanying family member in relation to the care for the child/adolescent after BMT in the hospital. Methods: Descriptive-exploratory, qualitative study, carried out in a private institution in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, with six family members of children undergoing BMT. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews after approval of the study by the Research Ethics Committee of the institution (no: 3,955,196). Qualitative data analysis was used, according to Minayo's model of thematic categories. After the literal transcription of the interviews, a comprehensive reading was carried out to obtain an initial perception of the reports. Successive readings made it possible to highlight significant excerpts, initially grouped based on thematic differences in the categorization process and, later, aggregated by content similarity. The synthesis of the speeches was elaborated by the approximation of the theoretical assumptions to the empirical data. Results: From the reports, five categories emerged that show the change in the family's daily life due to the BMT and its impact on the companion's future expectations regarding the child's health, the importance of the support of the multidisciplinary team in the hospital, the fundamental role of the network of social support and the turmoil of feelings experienced by the companion in this difficult moment in his life. Final considerations: Knowing the experiences of family members accompanying the hospitalized child undergoing BMT reveals the need for all those involved to adapt to the new routine and to strengthen the bond with the multidisciplinary team, raising awareness of the family's concerns. The results emphasize the merit of the qualitative approach for investigations in which delicate situations involving experiences and feelings of children and family members are considered in the context of health.

ABSTRACT The objective of the study was to evaluate the reproductive phenology in a Monteverdia ilicifolia plantation, whose seedlings were produced with Trichoderma spp. and vermicompost, in order to identify the moment when the shift to the adult reproductive stage of the species occurs and possible effects of biostimulants on reproductive development of the species. The seedlings was carried out in tubes of 180 cm³ volume in a greenhouse in November 2015. For the Trichoderma spp. assay, three non-commercial strains (T1 and T2: Trichoderma asperelloides; T10: Trichoderma virens) inoculated in commercial substrate and one treatment without Trichoderma (control) were tested, comprising four treatments with five replications each, totaling 20 plants. For the vermicompost assay, different proportions of vermicompost and non-sterile soil were tested. The percentages of vermicompost evaluated were: 0; 20; 40; 50; 60 and 80% in relation to the non-sterile soil (treatments T0, T20, T40, T50, T60 and T80), being tested ten replications per treatment, totaling 60 plants. The seedlings were transplanted to the field at 330 days, at a spacing of 4.0 m x 3.5 m, constituting two trials, which were evaluated individually. The reproductive phenology of M. ilicifolia was evaluated in 2018, 2019 and 2020, using the presence/absence of flowering and fruiting method, quantified by the activity index (AI), which expresses the percentage of individuals that manifested the events in each sampling. The analyzes were carried out directly and monthly, between the months of August and December of each year. The first reproductive phenology of the species occurred 22 months after planting. The flowering activity index was more intense than the fruiting activity index during the three reproductive periods analyzed, but it is still incipient to infer about the action of biostimulants, in view of the presence of two floral types with characteristics that may have influenced the results found. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the floral typology of each cultivated individual to better understand the reproductive dynamics of the species in the study area and confirm possible effects of biostimulants.

RESUMO O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar a fenologia reprodutiva em um plantio de Monteverdia ilicifolia, cujas mudas foram produzidas com Trichoderma e vermicomposto, visando identificar o momento em que ocorre a mudança para a fase adulta reprodutiva da espécie e possíveis efeitos dos bioestimulantes no desenvolvimento reprodutivo das plantas. A semeadura foi realizada em tubetes de 180 cm³ de volume em casa de vegetação em novembro de 2015. Para o ensaio com Trichoderma spp., foram testadas três cepas não-comerciais (cepas T1 e T2: Trichoderma asperelloides; T10: Trichoderma virens) inoculadas em substrato comercial e um tratamento sem Trichoderma (controle), constituindo quatro tratamentos com cinco repetições cada, totalizando 20 plantas. Para o ensaio com vermicomposto, foram testadas diferentes proporções de vermicomposto e solo não-estéril. Os percentuais de vermicomposto avaliados foram: 0; 20; 40; 50; 60 e 80% em relação ao solo não-estéril (tratamentos T0, T20, T40, T50, T60 e T80), sendo testadas dez repetições por tratamento, totalizando 60 plantas. O transplante das mudas para o campo ocorreu aos 330 dias, em espaçamento 4,0 m x 3,5 m, constituindo dois ensaios, os quais foram avaliados individualmente. A fenologia reprodutiva de M. ilicifolia foi avaliada em 2018, 2019 e 2020, pelo método presença/ausência de floração e frutificação, quantificados pelo índice de atividade (IA), que exprime o percentual de indivíduos que manifestaram os eventos em cada amostragem. As análises foram realizadas de forma direta e mensalmente, entre os meses de agosto a dezembro de cada ano. A primeira fenologia reprodutiva da espécie ocorreu 22 meses após o plantio. O índice de atividade de floração foi mais intenso que o índice de atividade de frutificação no decorrer dos três períodos reprodutivos analisados, mas ainda são incipientes para inferir sobre a ação dos bioestimulantes, tendo em vista a presença de dois tipos florais com características que podem ter influenciado nos resultados encontrados. Por isso, é necessário avaliar a tipologia floral de cada indivíduo cultivado para compreender melhor a dinâmica reprodutiva da espécie na área de estudo e confirmar possíveis efeitos dos bioestimulantes.

ABSTRACT Background: Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is a potentially severe disease that can present with refractoriness, recurrence, and evolution to death. In Brazil, the epidemiology of CDI seems to differ from that of the United States and most European countries, with only one ribotype (RT) 027-related case and a high prevalence of RT106. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcomes of CDI and its possible association with ribotypes at a university hospital in Brazil. Methods: A total of 65 patients with CDI were included and stool samples were submitted to A/B toxin detection and toxigenic culture, and toxigenic isolates (n=44) were also PCR ribotyped. Results: Patients’ median age was 59 (20-87) years and there were 16 (24.6%) deaths. The median Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) was 4 (0-15) and 16.9% of the patients had CCI ≥8. The ATLAS score and non-improvement of diarrhea were related to higher mortality. A longer length of hospitalization was related to the enteral nutrition and use of multiple antibiotics. The period between CDI diagnosis and hospital discharge was longer in those who received new antibiotics after diagnosis, multiple antibiotics, and required intensive care treatment. Recurrence was associated with CCI >7. Twenty ribotypes were identified and RT106 was the most frequently detected strain (43.2%). No relationship was observed between the ribotypes and outcomes. CDI was present in patients with more comorbidities. Conclusion: Risk factors for higher mortality, longer hospital stay and recurrence were identified. A diversity of ribotypes was observed and C. difficile strains were not related to the outcomes.

RESUMO Contexto: A infecção pelo Clostridioides difficile (ICD) é uma doença potencialmente grave que pode se apresentar com refratariedade, recidiva e evoluir para óbito. No Brasil, a epidemiologia da ICD parece diferir da dos Estados Unidos e da maioria dos países europeus, com apenas um caso relacionado ao ribotipo (RT) 027 e alta prevalência do RT106. Objetivo: Avaliar os desfechos da ICD e sua possível associação com ribotipos em um hospital universitário do Brasil. Métodos: Um total de 65 pacientes com ICD foram incluídos e amostras de fezes foram submetidas à detecção de toxina A/B e cultura toxigênica e as cepas toxigênicas isoladas (n=44) também foram ribotipadas por PCR. Resultados: A idade mediana dos pacientes foi de 59 (20-87) anos e houve 16 (24,6%) óbitos. A mediana do índice de comorbidade de Charlson (ICC) foi de 4 (0-15) e 16,9% dos pacientes apresentaram ICC ≥8. O escore ATLAS e a não melhora da diarreia foram relacionados a maior mortalidade. Maior tempo de internação esteve relacionado à nutrição enteral e ao uso de múltiplos antibióticos. O período entre o diagnóstico de ICD e a alta hospitalar foi maior naqueles que receberam novos antibióticos após o diagnóstico, múltiplos antibióticos e necessitaram de tratamento intensivo. A recorrência foi associada com ICC >7. Vinte ribotipos foram identificados e o RT106 foi a cepa mais frequentemente detectada (43,2%). Não foi observada relação entre os ribotipos e os desfechos. ICD esteve presente em pacientes com mais comorbidades. Conclusão: Foram identificados fatores de risco para maior mortalidade, maior tempo de internação e recorrência. Uma diversidade de ribotipos foi observada e cepas de C. difficile não foram relacionadas aos desfechos.

The Covid-19 pandemic had several consequences for economies around the world, especially in the labor market. Considering this context, the present study analyzes which personal and socioeconomic characteristics are associated with the formal participation of individuals in the Brazilian labor market in a pandemic scenario. For this purpose, data from the PNAD Covid-19 for the year 2020 were used with the application of logistic regressions. The results indicated different relationships between the variables of gender, race and family responsibility with the probability of the individual having a formal job. In addition, it was also verified that individuals diagnosed with some health risk factor are less likely to be in a formal occupation situation. Finally, it was found that this heterogeneity also exists when considering sectoral differences.

A pandemia de Covid-19 implicou diversas consequências sobre as economias de todo o mundo, sobretudo no mercado de trabalho. Considerando esse contexto, o presente estudo analisa quais caraterísticas pessoais e socioeconômicas estão associadas com a participação formal dos indivíduos no mercado de trabalho brasileiro em um cenário pandêmico. Para tanto, foram utilizados os dados da PNAD Covid-19 referentes ao ano de 2020 com aplicação de regressões logísticas. Os resultados indicaram diferentes relações entre as variáveis de sexo, raça e responsabilidade familiar com a probabilidade de o indivíduo estar ocupado com carteira assinada. Além disso, foi verificado também que indivíduos diagnosticados com algum fator de risco à saúde possuem menores chances de estarem em situação de ocupação formal. Por fim, constatou-se que essa heterogeneidade também existe quando se consideram as diferenças setoriais.

Abstract: The Brazilian parliament has been systematically studied by several areas of knowledge, and among many, we highlight political science, sociology, public administration. Tourism has received visibility in the public agenda, boosting economic and social development. In the last three decades (since 1990), the Brazilian State has continuously invested in the formulations of public policies and investment in the country's tourist destinations. However, there are few results of government action in structuring destinations and diversifying the supply of tourism products. Some authors (Silva & Fonseca, 2017; Todesco & Silva, 2021) attribute this low performance to the way resources are distributed and used by municipalities and tourist regions, as they point out that a significant slice of the budget is designated by parliamentary amendments. In this article, we intend to study the parliamentary performance in the budget of the Ministry of Tourism (Mtur). In this sense, the objective of this work is to understand the participation of parliamentary amendments in the Mtur budget and whether this influence may have impaired the ministry's performance. The methodological route consisted of bibliographical reading on amendments, public budget to base and support the investigation, then data were probed in SIGA Brasil, with budget execution reports, descriptive statistics were also used. The time frame was from 2003 (MTur creation) to 2016. The main results demonstrate a high parliamentary participation in the distribution and use of MTur resources, and, in some years, the budget for amendments occupies about 80% of all funds invested.

Resumen: El parlamento brasileño ha sido estudiado sistemáticamente por varias áreas de conocimiento, entre las que se destacan las ciencias políticas, la sociología, la administración pública. El turismo ha cobrado visibilidad en la agenda pública, por impulsar el desarrollo económico y social. En las últimas tres décadas (desde 1990), el Estado brasileño ha invertido continuamente en la formulación de políticas públicas y en inversiones financieras en los destinos turísticos del país. Sin embargo, los resultados de la acción gubernamental en la estructuración de destinos y la diversificación de la oferta de productos turísticos son escasos. Algunos autores (Silva & Fonseca, 2017; Todesco & Silva, 2021) atribuyen este bajo desempeño a la forma en que los municipios y las regiones turísticas distribuyen y utilizan los recursos, ya que señalan que una parte importante del presupuesto es designada por reformas parlamentarias. En este artículo, pretendemos estudiar el desempeño parlamentario en el presupuesto del Ministerio de Turismo (Mtur). En ese sentido, el objetivo de este trabajo es comprender la participación de las enmiendas parlamentarias en el presupuesto del Mtur y si esa influencia pudo haber perjudicado la actuación del ministerio. La ruta metodológica consistió en lectura bibliográfica sobre reformas, presupuesto público para fundamentar y sustentar la investigación, luego se sondearon datos en SIGA Brasil, con informes de ejecución presupuestaria, también se utilizó estadística descriptiva. El marco temporal fue desde 2003 (creación de MTur) hasta 2016. Los principales resultados demuestran una alta participación parlamentaria en la distribución y uso de los recursos del MTur y, en algunos años, el presupuesto de enmiendas ocupa alrededor del 80% de todos los recursos invertidos.

O turismo tem recebido visibilidade na agenda pública, por impulsionar o desenvolvimento econômico e social. Nas três últimas décadas (desde 1990), o Estado brasileiro tem investido de forma contínua nas formulações de políticas públicas e no investimento financeiro nos destinos turísticos do país. No entanto, são escassos os resultados da atuação governamental na estruturação dos destinos e na diversificação da oferta de produtos turísticos. Alguns autores (Silva & Fonseca, 2017; Todesco & Silva, 2021) atribuem esse baixo desempenho à forma como os recursos são distribuídos e utilizados pelos municípios e regiões turísticas, pois assinalam que uma fatia significativa do orçamento é designada por emendas parlamentares. Neste artigo, tencionou-se estudar a atuação parlamentar no orçamento do Ministério do Turismo (Mtur). Nesse sentido, o objetivo do trabalho é entender a participação das emendas parlamentares no orçamento do Mtur e se essa influência pode ter prejudicado o desempenho do ministério. O percurso metodológico consistiu em leitura bibliográfica sobre emendas, orçamento público para dar base e sustentação à investigação, em seguida, foram sondados dados no SIGA Brasil, com relatórios de execução orçamentária, também se utilizou estatísticas descritivas. Abstract The Covid-19 pandemic had several consequences for economies around the world, especially in the labor market. Considering this context, the present study analyzes which personal and socioeconomic characteristics are associated with the formal participation of individuals in the Brazilian labor market in a pandemic scenario. For this purpose, data from the PNAD Covid-19 for the year 2020 were used with the application of logistic regressions. The results indicated different relationships between the variables of gender, race and family responsibility with the probability of the individual having a formal job. In addition, it was also verified that individuals diagnosed with some health risk factor are less likely to be in a formal occupation situation. Finally, it was found that this heterogeneity also exists when considering sectoral differences.

Resumo A pandemia de Covid-19 implicou diversas consequências sobre as economias de todo o mundo, sobretudo no mercado de trabalho. Considerando esse contexto, o presente estudo analisa quais caraterísticas pessoais e socioeconômicas estão associadas com a participação formal dos indivíduos no mercado de trabalho brasileiro em um cenário pandêmico. Para tanto, foram utilizados os dados da PNAD Covid-19 referentes ao ano de 2020 com aplicação de regressões logísticas. Os resultados indicaram diferentes relações entre as variáveis de sexo, raça e responsabilidade familiar com a probabilidade de o indivíduo estar ocupado com carteira assinada. Além disso, foi verificado também que indivíduos diagnosticados com algum fator de risco à saúde possuem menores chances de estarem em situação de ocupação formal. Por fim, constatou-se que essa heterogeneidade também existe quando se consideram as diferenças setoriais.

RESUMEN El empleo rural de América Latina se ha mantenido históricamente en una situación desfavorable respecto de las áreas urbanas. Mientras los ingresos de los habitantes rurales son inferiores, el trabajo por cuenta propia, el trabajo agrícola y la pluriactividad, típicamente asociados a alta vulnerabilidad, son mayores en áreas rurales. Pese a lo anterior, en las últimas décadas los países de la región han observado modificaciones en sus estructuras de empleo rural. El objetivo del estudio es plasmar el estado actual y las transformaciones del empleo rural en América Latina, analizando los cambios recientes producidos en Chile. Se utilizan diversas encuestas de hogares para describir la situación del empleo rural para cuatro países de América Latina: Chile, Colombia, Guatemala y Nicaragua, y se analizan los cambios recientes producidos en Chile. Los resultados indican que, si bien las áreas rurales de América Latina se encuentran en condiciones desfavorable, en el Chile rural se observa una caída en el empleo agrícola y en el trabajo por cuenta propia, y una mayor participación femenina, lo que se condice con una mejora en las condiciones de vida de los habitantes rurales y una potencial convergencia económica hacia las áreas urbanas.

ABSTRACT Rural employment in Latin America has historically remained in an unfavorable situation with respect to urban areas. While the income of rural inhabitants is lower, self-employment, agricultural work, and pluriactivity, which are typically associated with high vulnerability, are higher in rural areas. However, in recent decades, countries of the region have experienced changes in their rural employment structures. The objective of the study is to describe the current state and transformations of rural employment in Latin America, analyzing recent changes in Chile. Several household surveys are used to describe the current situation of rural employment for four Latin American countries: Chile, Colombia, Guatemala and Nicaragua, while recent changes in Chile are also addressed. The results indicate that, although rural areas of Latin America are in unfavorable conditions, the case of Chile shows a drop in agricultural employment and self-employment, and a greater female participation, which is consistent with an improvement in the living conditions of rural inhabitants and a potential economic convergence towards urban areas.

RESUMO: Pombos urbanos são conhecidos pela sua capacidade de carrear e disseminar diversos agentes zoonóticos. Estudos tem sugerido que pombos são também relevantes na disseminação de estirpes resistentes a múltiplas drogas. No presente estudo, pombos no ambiente de um hospital veterinário foram amostrados em três diferentes períodos e testados para a presença de Escherichia coli patogênica, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp. e Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile. Isolados de E. coli de 19 pombos (40.4%) foram positivos para o gene codificador da toxina EAST1. O gene codificador de intimina (eae) do patotipo E. coli enteropatogênica foi encontrada em um isolado (2.1%). Salmonella spp. foi encontrada em nove pombos (19.1%), sendo todos isolados do primeiro período de captura (P < 000.1). S. Typhimurium foi isolado de seis animais e S. Heidelberg de três. A tipagem molecular de isolados de Salmonella spp. por ERIC-PCR demonstrou que oito estirpes possuíam alta similaridade genética entre si, sugerindo a ocorrência de um surto de salmonelose nos animais carreadores. Vinte Staphylococcus (42.5%) foram isolados de 18 animais (38.3%). Oito diferentes espécies foram detectadas, sendo S. xylosus a mais frequente. Duas estirpes de C. difficile não-toxigênica (4.3%) foram isoladas. Uma estirpe de S. Typhimurium, uma de S. aureus e um isolado de C. difficile foram classificados como resistentes a múltiplas drogas antimicrobianas. O presente estudo sugere que pombos capturados no ambiente do hospital veterinário podem atuar como reservatórios e disseminadores de bactérias patogênicas e envolvidas em infecção hospitalar, incluindo E. coli diarreiogênica e Staphylococcus sp., C. difficile e Salmonella spp multirresistente.

ABSTRACT: Pigeons are known for their capacity to harbor and spread several zoonotic agents. Studies have suggested that pigeons are also relevant disseminators of multidrug-resistant strains. In this study, pigeons surrounding a veterinary hospital were sampled and tested for the presence of pathogenic Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus spp., and Clostridioides (Clostridium) difficile. E. coli isolates from 19 (40.4%) pigeons tested positive for the E. coli heat-stable enterotoxin 1 (EAST1)-encoding gene. The intimin-encoding gene (eae) of enteropathogenicE. coli (EPEC) was found in one isolate (2.1%). Salmonella spp. were found in nine (19.1%) pigeons, all from the first capture event (P < 000.1). S. Typhimurium and S. Heidelberg were isolated from six and three pigeons, respectively. Enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC-PCR) of the Salmonella spp. isolates suggested that eight of the nine strains had a high genetic similarity, supporting the hypothesis of an outbreak of salmonellosis in these pigeons. Twenty (42.5%) staphylococcal isolates were recovered from 18 (38.3%) pigeons. Eight different species were detected, with S. xylosus being the most frequent. Two (4.3%) C. difficile strains were isolated. Three isolates, one each of S. Typhimurium, S. aureus, and C. difficile, were classified as multidrug-resistant strains. The present research suggested that pigeons residing in urban areas can act as reservoirs and disseminators of pathogenic bacteria, including nosocomial pathogens, such as diarrheagenicE. coli and multidrug-resistant Staphylococcus spp., C. difficile, and Salmonella spp.

ABSTRACT Neoplasms of the biliopancreatic confluence may present with obstruction of the bile tract, leading to jaundice, pruritus and cholangitis. In these cases drainage of the bile tract is imperative. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) with placement of a choledochal prosthesis is an effective treatment in about 90% of cases, even in experienced hands. In cases of ERCP failure, therapeutic options traditionally include surgical bypass by hepaticojejunostomy (HJ) or percutaneous transparietohepatic drainage (DPTH). In recent years, endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage techniques have gained space because they are less invasive, effective and have an acceptable incidence of complications. Endoscopic echo-guided drainage of the bile duct can be performed through the stomach (hepatogastrostomy), duodenum (choledochoduodenostomy) or by the anterograde drainage technique. Some services consider ultrasound-guided drainage of the bile duct the procedure of choice in the event of ERCP failure. The objective of this review is to present the main types of endoscopic ultrasound-guided biliary drainage and compare them with other techniques.

RESUMO Neoplasias da confluência biliopancreática podem cursar com obstrução da via biliar, levando a icterícia, prurido e colangite. Nesses casos a drenagem da via biliar é imperativa. A colangiopancreatografia endoscópica retrógrada (CPER) com colocação de prótese coledociana constitui tratamento eficaz em cerca de 90% dos casos mesmo em mãos experientes. Nos casos de insucesso da CPER, tradicionalmente as opções terapêuticas incluem a derivação cirúrgica por hepaticojejunostomia (HJ) ou drenagem percutânea transparietohepática (DPTH). Nos últimos anos as técnicas endoscópicas ecoguiadas de drenagem biliar ganharam espaço por serem menos invasivas, eficazes e apresentarem incidência aceitável de complicações. A drenagem endoscópica ecoguiada da via biliar pode ser realizada pelo estômago (hepatogastrostomia), duodeno (coledocoduodenostomia) ou pela técnica de drenagem anterógrada. Alguns serviços consideram a drenagem ecoguiada da via biliar o procedimento de escolha no caso de insucesso da CPER. O objetivo desta revisão é apresentar os principais tipos de drenagem biliar endoscópica ecoguiada e confrontá-los com outras técnicas.

Abstract Basketball is a sport practiced around the world in this way, performances tests especially with low-cost and accessible are suggested to adjust the training. The 00aim of present study was to evaluate and correlate the speed and jump performance of lower limbs of basketball athletes from the Praia Grande, city of São Paulo, Brazil. Twelve male athletes (6.92 ± 2.57 years of pratice) from the Basketball team of Praia Grande City, aged 18.7 ± 0.6 years, height 1.85 ± 0.06, body mass 83.66 ± 10.16 kg were evaluated. The athletes were submitted to test sessions using the protocol for evaluating the maximum speed of 20 meters and the unilateral vertical jump. The speed on 20 meter test was 3.53 ± 0.20 seconds. Although an asymmetry of 17.81 ± 14.64% was found, no statistical difference (p = 0.817) was found between the dominant (36.50 ± 7.36 cm) and non-dominant (35.92 ± 5.63 cm) of vertical jump performance. Additionally, correlation between 20-meter test and values jump was found to dominant leg (p = 0.042) but not to non-dominant leg (p = 0.704). In conclusion, although asymmetry was found between members of the dominant and non-dominant side of the pitch, did not show any difference in the vertical jump.

Resumo O basquete é um esporte praticado em todo o mundo, desta forma, testes de desempenho principalmente com baixo custo e acessíveis são sugeridos para adequar o treinamento. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar e correlacionar a velocidade e o desempenho de salto de membros inferiores de atletas de basquetebol da cidade da Praia Grande, São Paulo, Brasil. Foram avaliados 12 atletas do sexo masculino (6,92 ± 2,57 anos de prática) da equipe de Basquetebol da Cidade de Praia Grande, com idade 18,7 ± 0,6 anos, estatura 1,85 ± 0,06, massa corporal 83,66 ± 10,16 kg. Os atletas foram submetidos a sessões de testes utilizando o protocolo de avaliação da velocidade máxima de 20 metros e do salto vertical unilateral. A velocidade no teste de 20 metros foi de 3,53 ± 0,20 segundos. Embora tenha sido encontrada uma assimetria de 17,81 ± 14,64%, não foi encontrada diferença estatística (p = 0,817) entre o desempenho do salto vertical dominante (36,50 ± 7,36 cm) e não dominante (35,92 ± 5,63 cm). Além disso, foi encontrada correlação entre o teste de 20 metros e os valores de salto para perna dominante (p = 0,042), mas não para perna não dominante (p = 0,704). Em conclusão, embora tenha sido encontrada assimetria entre membros do lado dominante e não dominante do campo, não houve diferença no salto vertical

abstract: Concrete in its macrostructure is a multiphase cementitious composite material, however, by reducing its scale, it is possible to identify the phases that compose it, among the phases are those embedded in the microscale: the hydrated silicates, in the mesoscale: the cement paste, transition zones and aggregates and in the macro phase: the composite itself. Modeling this type of material with two-phase micromechanical models is common in the literature, but there are already proven limitations that two-phase models can provide high modeling errors and are not recommended for this type of study. Faced with this problem, an alternative would be to use multiple-phase models, combined with a multiscale perspective in an attempt to minimize the error in modeling this material. The present paper models the concrete in two different constructions: without an interfacial transition zone and with the inclusion of the interfacial transition zone, verifying the modeling error when neglecting this important phase. The entire homogenization process is performed using the decoupled multiscale technique, obtaining results that rule out the use of two-phase models and methodologies that do not evaluate the interfacial transition zone in conventional concrete. The results obtained with the use of multiple-phase models reduced the relative error to practically zero (compared to experimental tests), demonstrating that micromechanics can be a concrete modeling tool provided that the multiscale process considers as many as possible phases and robust models that take this nature into account.

resumo: O concreto em sua macroestrutura é um material compósito cimentício multifásico, contudo ao se reduzir sua escala consegue-se identificar as fases quem compõe o mesmo, dentre as fases estão as embutidas na microescala: os silicatos hidratados, na mesoescala: a pasta de cimento, zonas de transições e agregados e na fase macro: o próprio compósito. Modelagens desse tipo de material com modelos micromecânicos bifásicos são comuns na literatura, porém existe limitações já comprovadas de que modelos de duas fases podem aferir erros altos a modelagem não sendo recomendado para esse tipo de estudo. Diante dessa problemática, uma alternativa seria empregar modelos de múltiplas fases, aliado a uma perspectiva multiescala na tentativa de minimizar o erro na modelagem desse material. O presente trabalho modela o concreto em duas construções distinta: sem zona de transição interfacial e com a inclusão da zona de transição interfacial, verificando o erro de modelagem à negligência essa importante fase. Todo processo de homogeneização é realizado utilizando a técnica multiescala desacoplada obtendo resultados que descartam a utilização de modelos bifásicos e metodologias que não avaliam a zona de transição interfacial em concretos convencionais. Os resultados obtidos com a utilização de modelos de múltiplas fases reduziram o erro relativo a praticamente zero (em comparação com ensaios experimentais), demonstrando que a micromecânica pode ser uma ferramenta de modelagem do concreto desde que o processo multiescala leve em consideração o maior número possíveis de fases e modelos robustos que levem em conta essa natureza.

ABSTRACT: This study performed the characterization of coccidiosis in broilers and evaluated the occurrence of suggestive cases of necrotic enteritis (NE), seeking if there is an association between the diseases in Brazilian flocks. Two hundred and fifty-six birds from 32 flocks were evaluated. Macroscopic and histopathological lesions were graduated for coccidiosis and NE. Intestinal content was investigated by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for seven species of Eimeria and by selective anaerobic culture for Clostridium perfringens and identification of the NetB gene. Flocks positive for coccidiosis represented 93.8%. Macroscopic lesions of coccidiosis were Grade 1 for E. acervulina (27%); E. tenella (9.7%) and E. maxima (8.9%). Histopathological evaluation showed Grade 1 in duodenum (38.2%); jejunum (21.4%); cecum (9.3%) and ileum (5%). PCR demonstrated positivity for E. tenella (21.9%), E. maxima (18.8%), and E. acervulina (3.1%). Suggestive macroscopic lesions of necrotic enteritis ranged from Grade 1 (16%), 2 (23%) and 3 (10,9%). Histopathology indicated the absence of necrosis, showing only hemorrhage in the mucosa and submucosa, with the presence of Eimeria spp. Clostridium perfringens type A netB+ was not isolated, demonstrating that macroscopic lesions found mostly in the jejunum did not characterize NE, based on histopathology and negativity of the NetB gene. The study suggests that, due to the high occurrence of coccidiosis, many macroscopic findings suggestive of NE are, in fact, attributed to atypical lesions caused by the reproduction of Eimeria spp.

RESUMO: Este estudo realizou a caracterização de coccidiose em frangos de corte e avaliou a ocorrência de casos sugestivos de enterite necrótica (EN), buscando se há alguma associação entre estas duas enfermidades em lotes de frango de corte no Brasil. Foram avaliadas 256 aves de 32 lotes. Lesões macroscópicas e histopatológicas foram graduadas para coccidiose e EN. O conteúdo intestinal foi investigado por reação em cadeia da polimerase (PCR) para sete espécies de Eimeria e por cultura anaeróbia seletiva para Clostridium perfringens e identificação do gene NetB. Os lotes positivos para coccidiose representaram 93,8%. Lesões macroscópicas de coccidiose foram de Grau 1 para E. acervulina (27%); E. tenella (9,7%) e E. maxima (8,9%). A avaliação histopatológica mostrou Grau 1 no duodeno (38,2%); jejuno (21,4%); ceco (9,3%) e íleo (5%). A PCR demonstrou positividade para E. tenella (21,9%), E. maxima (18,8%) e E. acervulina (3,1%). Lesões macroscópicas sugestivas de enterite necrótica variaram de grau 1 (16%), 2 (23%) e 3 (10,9%). A histopatologia indicou ausência de necrose, apresentando apenas hemorragia em mucosa e submucosa, com presença de Eimeria spp. Clostridium perfringens tipo A netB + não foi isolado, demonstrando que lesões macroscópicas encontradas principalmente no jejuno não caracterizaram NE, com base na histopatologia e negatividade do gene NetB. O estudo sugere que, em virtude da alta ocorrência de coccidiose nos lotes, muitos achados macroscópicos sugestivos de EN são, na verdade, atribuídos a lesões atípicas provocadas pela reprodução de Eimeria spp.
