RESUMO O presente artigo busca não somente reconstruir as noções de “avaliação” (Werthschätzung) e “valor” (Werth) presentes nas obras de Nietzsche, mas pretende mostrar que ambas precisam ser pensadas à luz da noção de “medida de valor” (Werthmaass), haja vista que esta é imprescindível para a compreensão do conceito de transvaloração de todos os valores na filosofia nietzschiana.

ABSTRACT This article seeks not only to reconstruct the notions of “evaluation” (Werthschätzung) and “value” (Werth) present in Nietzsche’s works, but also to show that both need to be thought of in the light of the notion of “measure of value” (Werthmaass), given that it is essential for understanding the concept of transvaluation of all values in Nietzschean philosophy.

Resumo A recepção do pensamento de Nietzsche pela inteligência brasileira, entre o início da década de 1930 e a véspera do centenário de seu nascimento, constitui o tema do presente ensaio. Para tanto, busca-se analisar aproximadamente cinco dezenas de artigos que surgiram na imprensa nacional, dos quais dezoito foram trazidos ao público em sua íntegra nos Cadernos Nietzsche. Para bem compreender o debate, investiga- se também o papel desempenhado pelas traduções de livros de intérpretes do filósofo e das primeiras traduções das obras de Nietzsche editadas no Brasil. Em meio à complexidade de abordagens do pensamento nietzschiano entre nomes expressivos do cenário intelectual brasileiro, acaba por transparecer que muitos deles dissociaram o vínculo entre o nome do filósofo e o nazismo, reconhecendo-o como o pensador que antecipara as tensões imanentes do século XX - o "homem que foi um campo de batalha", tal como definiu Mário Ferreira dos Santos no prefácio que escreveu em 1943 para a sua tradução de A vontade de Potência.

Abstract This essay discusses the reception of Nietzsche's thought by the Brazilian intelligentsia, between the early 1930's and the eve of his birth centenary. Near fifty articles that appeared in the national press are analyzed, among which eighteen were published in Cadernos Nietzsche. To better understand the debate, the role played by the translation of books by some of the philosopher's commentators and the first translations of his works published in Brazil are investigated as well. Amid the complexity of approaches to Nietzsche's though among relevant names in the Brazilian intellectual scene, many of them have erased the association between the German philosophy and Nazism, acknowledging him only as the thinker that had anticipated the immanent tensions of the 20th Century-the "man who was a battlefield," as defined by Brazilian philosopher Mário Ferreira dos Santos in the preface for his translation of The Will to Power, written in 1943.
