ABSTRACT Brazil is a benchmark in sugarcane production, with the state of São Paulo standing out as the largest Brazilian producer. However, for sugarcane suppliers and mills to sustain this activity, there is a need to improve productivity per hectare and reduce production costs. In this regard, this study aimed to propose fuzzy systems to estimate sugarcane productivity based on planted area (Area) and total cost of soil tillage (TCST) for raw material suppliers and mills. To this end, two fuzzy inference systems were constructed for the output variable (productivity) from two input variables (Area and TCST), considering five membership functions (very low, low, medium, high, and very high). Additionally, a survey on 42 sugarcane suppliers and 31 mills in the state of São Paulo was used for model construction. The results showed that the relationship between Area and TCST reflects on the productivity of sugarcane suppliers and mills in distinct ways. For suppliers, an increase in productivity is observed when there is an almost negative relationship between both input variables. For mills, productivity rises when these variables fluctuate in the same direction. Therefore, the proposed method is viable and provides relevant information for conjecturing survival strategies for agents in the sugarcane energy sector.

Resumo No cenário das Instituições de Ensino Superior brasileiras, as justificativas para evasão ou permanência discente variam de acordo com a instituição e os cursos, dadas as suas peculiaridades, bem como as de seus estudantes. Entretanto, ainda são escassos os estudos e ações governamentais acerca da evasão escolar, o que mostra a falta de inovação acerca desse tema. Assim, o objetivo geral do presente trabalho consiste em avaliar a percepção de egressos e evadidos acerca dos cursos de graduação das áreas de Ciências Agrárias e de Humanidades dos Campi Experimentais da UNESP. Especificamente, pretende-se evidenciar um procedimento metodológico que possa identificar quais elementos pontuais têm influenciado na tomada de decisão dos discentes de evadirem ou de permanecerem nos referidos cursos. Para tanto, foi feito um levantamento (survey), por meio de questionário estruturado com 40 sentenças de múltipla escolha, que foi aplicado por e-mail e pelas redes sociais a uma amostra probabilística composta por 243 respondentes. Por fim, a técnica multivariada de análise de clusters associada a testes de hipóteses não paramétricos foi utilizada para verificar a existência de diferença entre as percepções de egressos e evadidos que indicasse influência em sua decisão. Os resultados mostraram que, de maneira geral, egressos e evadidos apresentam percepções positivas quanto ao curso escolhido, bem como com respeito às condições de infraestrutura geral dos campi. Para dois cursos, um em cada área, foram observadas diferenças significativas entre as percepções de egressos e evadidos, sendo que principalmente características intrínsecas relacionadas aos discentes e ao seu bem-estar, tais como, identificação com o curso; motivação ou persistência para concretizar os objetivos; saúde e estabilidade pessoal e/ou familiar; e integração socioacadêmica com outros discentes foram as que interferiram direta ou indiretamente na tomada de decisão.

Abstract In the scenario of Brazilian Higher Education Institutions, the justifications for dropout or permanence of students vary according to the school and its courses, given their peculiarities, as well as those of their students. However, studies and governmental actions on school dropout are still scarce, which shows the lack of innovation on this topic. Thus, the general objective of the present work is to evaluate the perception of graduates and student dropouts in relation to their undergraduate courses in the areas of Agricultural Sciences and Humanities, from the Experimental Campi of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil. Specifically, it is intended to show a methodological procedure that can identify which specific elements have influenced the students’ decision to evade or to stay in the referred courses. Thus, a survey was carried out through a structured questionnaire with 40 multiple choice sentences, which was applied by email and through social networks to a probabilistic sample of 243 respondents. Finally, the multivariate clustering analysis associated with testing nonparametric hypotheses was used to verify the existence of a difference between the perceptions of graduates and dropouts that indicated influence on their decision. The results showed that, in general, graduates and dropouts have positive perceptions regarding the chosen course, as well as with respect to the general infrastructure conditions of the campi. For two courses, one in each area, significant differences were observed between the perceptions of graduates and dropouts, with mainly intrinsic characteristics related to students and their well-being, such as identification with the course; motivation and persistence to achieve the objectives; personal and / or family health and stability; and socio-academic integration with other students were those that directly or indirectly interfered in decision-making.

Resumo: O processo de regulamentação do setor de orgânicos no Brasil se iniciou em 1999 e passou por várias mudanças, culminando no Decreto-lei de dezembro de 2007, que estabeleceu regras para produção e comercialização de produtos orgânicos no Brasil. Em tal decreto, a certificação se tornou requisito compulsório para produção e comercialização de tais produtos, cujas regras para sua obtenção seguem padrões rigorosos de controle. Sendo recente o processo de certificação de produtos orgânicos, esta pesquisa vem contribuir à literatura internacional e, principalmente, nacional, sobre este tema, com o objetivo de identificar os fatores que influenciam a possibilidade de não renovação do certificado de produção de orgânicos, segundo a percepção de produtores certificados do Brasil, e assim propor ações que possam contribuir para adesão e manutenção no sistema certificado. Participaram dessa pesquisa 200 produtores de vários estados brasileiros, e a análise dos dados foi realizada por meio de estatística descritiva e, posteriormente, análise fatorial exploratória. Os resultados apontaram que os fatores considerados determinantes para a não renovação do certificado envolvem variáveis relacionadas às transações entre os agentes, à organização da cadeia produtiva e à regulamentação. Para superar os desafios impostos aos produtores rurais, uma das propostas é que haja maior efetividade das ações das entidades de classe representativas do setor no que se refere aos aspectos relacionados ao processo de certificação.

Abstract: The regulatory process of the organic sector in Brazil began in 1999 and has gone through several changes, culminating in the Decree-Law of December 2007, which established rules for the production and trading of organic products in Brazil. In such Decree, the certification has become a compulsory requirement for production and trading of such products, whose rules governing their obtaining follow rigorous controls standards. As the certification process of organic products is recent and there is a lack of studies carried on this subject, this study will contribute to fill the existing gap in the international literature, mainly national about this topic, once that aimed to identify factors that influence the possibility of non-renewal of organic production certificate, according to the perception of certified producers in Brazil. Through this effort, this research should contribute to wider adherence and maintenance of the producer in the certified system or, at least, proposals for further works. A total of 200 producers from several Brazilian states participated in this study, and data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and, later, exploratory factor analysis. The results achieved holds that the determining factors to the non-renewal of the certificate involve variables related to transactions among operators, organization of the supply chain and to the regulations. Furthermore, to overcome the challenges imposed to rural producers, one of the proposals is for greater effective actions from representative industry entities of the sector in aspects that are related to the certification process.

Um grupo de pesquisa pode ser considerado uma rede social, a qual pode ser modelada por um grafo G composto por k vértices e m arestas. Os pesquisadores que compõem essa rede podem ser interpretados como seus vértices, e as conexões ou ligações entre esses pesquisadores (representadas por trabalhos em coautoria) podem ser consideradas suas arestas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar a medida de confiabilidade de redes considerando os vértices ou pesquisadores não confiáveis e as arestas ou conexões perfeitamente confiáveis. Especificamente, foi proposta uma abordagem inferencial clássica para a confiabilidade de redes, obtendo os estimadores de máxima verossimilhança e os respectivos intervalos de confiança para os componentes individuais (pesquisadores) e para a rede de coautoria; foi aplicada a metodologia a um grupo de pesquisa da UNESP cadastrado no CNPq; e, foram obtidas medidas de centralidade de vértices para auxiliar na identificação de situações onde a inserção de uma aresta ou ligação entre dois pesquisadores do grupo poderia aumentar significativamente a confiabilidade da rede de coautoria. Os resultados mostraram a utilidade da inferência estatística no contexto de confiabilidade de redes sociais, ressaltando que a contribuição de cada pesquisador é de extrema importância para a manutenção de um grupo de pesquisa. Verificou-se ainda que o cálculo da confiabilidade de uma rede de coautoria pode ser bastante desgastante de ser executado e que as medidas de centralidade são uma ferramenta viável quando se intenciona aumentar a confiabilidade dessa rede.

A research group may be considered a social network, which may be modeled by a graph G with k nodes and m edges. Researchers that make up this network can be interpreted as its nodes or actors, and the connections or links between those researchers (represented by co- authored papers) can be considered as its edges. The aim of this study was to measure the reliability of networks considering unreliable nodes or researchers and perfectly reliable edges or connections. Specifically, a statistical analysis based on classical inference to the network reliability was proposed, obtaining the maximum likelihood estimators and confidence intervals for the individual components (researchers) and the co- authorship network; the methodology was applied to a research group of UNESP registered in CNPq; and measures of centrality of nodes were obtained to assist in identifying situations where the insertion of an edge or connection between two researchers of the group could significantly increases the reliability of this co-authorship network. The results showed the usefulness of statistical inference in the context of social networks reliability, noting that the contribution of each researcher is of extreme importance for the maintenance of a research group. It was also found that calculating the reliability of a co-authorship network can be quite exhausting to be executed and that the centrality measures are a viable tool when it intends to increase the reliability of this network.
