En este trabajo se evaluó un nuevo microinyector de inyección en flujo para la determinación de Cu, Mg y Zn en células mononucleares de la sangre. Este dispositivo permitió analizar muestras en el orden de microlitros mediante espectrometría de absorción atómica con llama, es fácil de construir y adaptar al inyector convencional del espectrofotómetro de absorción atómica. En la determinación de Cu, Mg y Zn se obtuvieron límites de detección de 106, 65 y 37 µg L-1,respectivamente. En las pruebas de recuperación de estos elementos en leucocitos mononucleares se encontraron porcentajes de recuperación entre 98 y 110%

Pulmonary embolism (PE) is an important disease entity in clinical medicine. It consists of obstruction of pulmonary arterial blood flow of a clot embolism from distant sites of the vasculature. Its incidence is variable depending on the source analyzed and most existing data is in hospitalized patients. The clinical presentation is a broad spectrum, from asymptomatic to cardiogenic shock with sudden death due to acute right heart failure. Recently it has been used to D-dimer as a useful laboratory test and a large negative predictive value in the diagnosis of PE. The current classification schemes recommended guided in clinical, laboratory and image. Chest angiotomography is currently the most commonly used diagnostic method for confirmation of pulmonary embolism, but the standard remains arteriography.

La tromboembolia pulmonar (TEP) es una entidad patológica de importancia en la medicina clínica. Consiste en la obstrucción del flujo sanguíneo arterial pulmonar por embolismo de un coágulo desde sitios distantes de la vasculatura. Su incidencia es variable dependiendo de la fuente analizada, la mayoría de los datos existentes son de pacientes hospitalizados. La presentación clínica tiene un espectro amplio, desde asintomática hasta el choque cardiogénico con muerte súbita debido a falla ventricular derecha aguda. En forma reciente se ha empleado al dímero D como un ensayo de laboratorio útil y con un gran valor predictivo negativo en el diagnóstico de TEP. Los esquemas de clasificación actuales recomiendan guiarse en parámetros clínicos, de laboratorio e imagen. La angiotomografía de tórax actualmente es el método diagnóstico más empleado para la confirmación de TEP, sin embargo, el estándar sigue siendo la arteriografía.

Se sintetizaron hidrogeles a partir de persulfato de amonio, N,N'-metilenbisacrilamida (MBAAm), acrilamida y poli(ácido acrílico), (AAm/PAAc), variando la relación de alimentación de la acrilamida. Se comprobó la incorporación efectiva de la AAm y del PAAc en la red a partir de la caracterización de los geles por FT-IR. Además, se sintetizaron y caracterizaron hidrogeles de poli(acrilamida-co-ácido acrílico) (AAm/AAc) a fin de compararlos con las redes semiinterpenetradas (semi-IPNs). Se realizaron estudios de absorción de agua pura y en soluciones acuosas de sales metálicas, observándose un mayor grado de hidratación (hinchamiento) al aumentar la concentración de PAAc y disminuir el porcentaje de MBAAm. Los hidrogeles sintetizados en proporción 60/40, AAm/PAAc, presentaron las mejores propiedades de absorción, tanto en agua como en soluciones metálicas (Mg2+, Cu2+). Los parámetros cinéticos arrojaron que la acrilamida favorece la rapidez de absorción (k), mientras que la presencia del PAAc en el hidrogel, incrementa el contenido de agua en el equilibrio (w∞). Los hidrogeles de AAm/PAAc se sumergieron en muestras de aguas tomadas de una empresa automotriz, ubicada en la ciudad de Cumaná (estado Sucre, Venezuela). Los resultados obtenidos arrojaron evidencias de una eficiente captación de iones metálicos por parte de los polímeros, en especial de Mg2+.

Hydrogels were synthesized from ammonium persulphate (PSA), N, N'- methylenebisacrylamide (MBAAm), acrylamide and poly(acrylic acid), (AAm / PAAc) varying the acrylamide feeding ratio. The incorporation of AAm and PAAc in the networks was demonstrated by the characterization of the obtained gels with Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). Additionally, poly (acrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (AAm/AAc) hydrogels were synthesized and characterized to compare with the interpenetrated networks (IPNs). Absorption studies of pure water and metallic salts aqueous solutions were carried out, observing a larger hydration degree (swelling) when the concentration of PAAc was increased and the percentage of MBAAm decreased. The synthesized hydrogels in a 60/40 ratio, AAm / PAAc showed the best absorption properties, both in water as in metallic (Mg2+, Cu2+) solutions. The kinetic parameters showed that the acrylamide favors the absorption speed (k), while the presence of PAAc in the hydrogel increases the maximum swelling constant (w∞). The hydrogels of AAm / PAAc were used in samples of waste waters collected from an automotive industry, located in the city of Cumaná (Sucre state, Venezuela). The results obtained yielded evidences of an efficient reception of metallic ions by the polymers, especially Mg2+.

An evaluation of the performance of a continuous flow hydride generator-nebulizer for flame atomic absorption spectrometry was carried out. Optimization of nebulizer gas flow rate, sample acid concentration, sample and tetrahydroborate uptake rates and reductant concentration, on the As and Se absorbance signals was carried out. A hydrogen-argon flame was used. An improvement of the analytical sensitivity relative to the conventional bead nebulizer used in flame AA was obtained (2 (As) and 4.8 (Se) µg L-1). Detection limits (3σb) of 1 (As) and 1.3 (Se) µg L-1 were obtained. Accuracy of the method was checked by analyzing an oyster tissue reference material.
