Abstract Background Cardiovascular complications of COVID-19 are important aspects of the disease’s pathogenesis and prognosis. Evidence on the prognostic role of troponin and myocardial injury in Latin American hospitalized COVID-19 patients is still scarce. Objectives To evaluate myocardial injury as independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized patients, from the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry. Methods This cohort study is a substudy of the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry, conducted in 31 Brazilian hospitals of 17 cities, March-September 2020. Primary outcomes included in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support. Models for the primary outcomes were estimated by Poisson regression with robust variance, with statistical significance of p<0.05. Results Of 2,925 patients (median age of 60 years [48-71], 57.1% men), 27.3% presented myocardial injury. The proportion of patients with comorbidities was higher among patients with cardiac injury (median 2 [1-2] vs. 1 [0-2]). Patients with myocardial injury had higher median levels of brain natriuretic peptide, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine phosphokinase, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, and C-reactive protein than patients without myocardial injury. As independent predictors, C-reactive protein and platelet counts were related to the risk of death, and neutrophils and platelet counts were related to the risk of invasive mechanical ventilation support. Patients with high troponin levels presented a higher risk of death (RR 2.03, 95% CI 1.60-2.58) and invasive mechanical ventilation support (RR 1.87, 95% CI 1.57-2.23), when compared to those with normal troponin levels. Conclusion Cardiac injury was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and the need for invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Resumo Fundamento As complicações cardiovasculares da COVID-19 são aspectos importantes da patogênese e do prognóstico da doença. Evidências do papel prognóstico da troponina e da lesão miocárdica em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 na América Latina são ainda escassos. Objetivos Avaliar a lesão miocárdica como preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados, do registro brasileiro de COVID-19. Métodos Este estudo coorte é um subestudo do registro brasileiro de COVID-19, conduzido em 31 hospitais brasileiros de 17 cidades, de março a setembro de 2020. Os desfechos primários incluíram mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os modelos para os desfechos primários foram estimados por regressão de Poisson com variância robusta, com significância estatística de p<0,05. Resultados Dos 2925 pacientes [idade mediana de 60 anos (48-71), 57,1%], 27,3% apresentaram lesão miocárdica. A proporção de pacientes com comorbidades foi maior nos pacientes com lesão miocárdica [mediana 2 (1-2) vs. 1 (0-20)]. Os pacientes com lesão miocárdica apresentaram maiores valores medianos de peptídeo natriurético cerebral, lactato desidrogenase, creatina fosfoquinase, N-terminal do pró-peptídeo natriurético tipo B e proteína C reativa em comparação a pacientes sem lesão miocárdica. Como fatores independentes, proteína C reativa e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados com o risco de morte, e neutrófilos e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados ao risco de suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os pacientes com níveis elevados de troponina apresentaram um maior risco de morte (RR 2,03, IC95% 1,60-2,58) e suporte ventilatório mecânico (RR 1,87;IC95% 1,57-2,23), em comparação àqueles com níveis de troponina normais. Conclusão Lesão cardíaca foi um preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e necessidade de suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Patients hospitalized with COVID-19 are often submitted to invasive procedures and they are at risk for hospital-associated adverse events. Objectives: To evaluate the epidemiological and clinical aspects of patients hospitalized with COVID-19; the occurrence of adverse events and the risk factors for mortality. Method: Cohort study that included adult patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of SAR-SCoV-2 infection, at the tertiary University Hospital of UNICAMP from March 2020 to March 2021. Patients were identified through the hospital epidemiological surveillance system and followed until discharge or death. Descriptive, comparative, and logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: 650 adult patients were included. The main adverse events identified were nosocomial infections (31.5%), renal failure (33.8%), thromboembolic and vascular events (12.6%). Mortality was higher among those with bloodstream infections (30.2% vs. 8.6%; p < 0.0001), ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP, 52.5% vs. 12.3%; p < 0.0001), catheter associated urinary infection (27.3% vs. 7.2%; p < 0.0001); thromboembolic and vascular events (23.0% vs. 9.9%; p < 0.0001) and renal failure (81.3% vs. 20.9%; p < 0.0001). Klebsiella pneumoniae (15.6%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (14.4%), Enterococcus faecalis (8.6%) were the most isolated bacteria. Logistic regression analysis identified age, (RR = 1.03; 95% CI 1.02 to 1.05); ICU admission (RR = 3.06; 95% CI 1.59 to 5.87), vasoactive drug use (RR = 3.1; 95% CI 1.79 to 4.82); renal failure (RR = 7.76; 95% CI 4.54 to 13.26); and VAP (RR = 2.2; 95% CI 1.23 to 3.96), independently associated with mortality. Conclusion: adverse events have an important impact on the evolution of patients with COVID-19, reinforcing the need for optimized prevention and control measures as an essential part of care for these patients.

ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Obesity is a chronic disease of multifactorial origin, associated with several medical complications, causing a significant decline in the health of individuals. In individuals with BMI≥40kg/m² or BMI≥35kg/m² with at least one comorbidity, bariatric surgery is the treatment of choice and can be performed in restrictive and/or malabsorptive surgeries. OBJECTIVES: To carry out a literature review to study short-term and long-term weight gain after bariatric surgery. METHODOLOGY: 10 articles were selected from the Web Of Science and Pubmed/Medline databases, published between 2015 and 2020, that addressed changes after bariatric surgery. To carry out the systematic review, the PRISMA recommendations were used, and to assess the quality of the articles, the critical evaluation instrument by Crombie. RESULTS: In 90% of the articles analyzed, there was a weight loss in the first two years of follow-up, with 40% of the articles also showing a greater decrease in BMI in the first year after bariatric surgery compared to the second, with the mean BMI decrease varied between 9.62kg / m² and 19.8kg / m² in the first year and between 0.13kg / m² and 4,3kg / m² in the second year after bariatric surgery. 30% of the articles with a follow-up period of more than 2 years, included in this review, refer to a new weight increase in individuals after 3 years and 10% after 5 years of bariatric surgery. Of the articles that mention more than one surgical technique (40%), Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is related to greater weight loss, followed by Sleeve Gastrectomy / Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and with lower results the Adjustable Gastric Band / Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band. CONCLUSIONS: Bariatric surgery remains an effective method for treating morbid obesity or grade 2 obesity with at least one short-term comorbidity, requiring strict nutritional monitoring to help achieve better long-term results, as well as in its maintenance.

RESUMO INTRODUÇÃO: A obesidade é uma doença crónica, de origem multifatorial, associada a diversas complicações médicas, provocando um declínio significativo na saúde dos indivíduos. Em indivíduos com IMC≥40kg/m² ou IMC≥35kg/m² com, pelo menos, uma comorbilidade, a cirurgia bariátrica é o tratamento de eleição e pode ser realizado em cirurgias do tipo restritivas e/ou malabsortivas. OBJETIVOS: Realizar uma revisão da literatura para estudar a evolução ponderal após cirurgia bariátrica a curto e a longo prazo. METODOLOGIA: foram selecionados 10 artigos das bases de dados Web Of Science e Pubmed/Medline, publicados entre 2015 e 2020, que abordassem a evolução ponderal após cirurgia bariátrica. Para a realização da revisão sistemática foram utilizadas as recomendações PRISMA, e para avaliação da qualidade dos artigos o instrumento de avaliação crítica de Crombie. RESULTADOS: Em 90% dos artigos analisados, verificou-se uma perda de peso nos primeiros dois anos de seguimento, constatando-se ainda, em 40% dos artigos uma maior diminuição de IMC, no primeiro ano após cirurgia bariátrica comparativamente com o segundo, sendo que a diminuição média de IMC variou entre 9,62kg/m² e 19,8kg/m² no primeiro ano e entre 0,13kg/m² e 4,3kg/m² no segundo ano após cirurgia bariátrica. 30% dos artigos com um tempo de seguimento superior a 2 anos, incluídos nesta revisão, referem novo aumento ponderal dos indivíduos ao fim de 3 anos e 10% após 5 anos de cirurgia bariátrica. Dos artigos que fazem menção a mais do que uma técnica cirúrgica (40%), o Bypass Gástrico em Y de Roux é a que se relaciona com maior perda ponderal, seguida de Gastrectomia Vertical/Gastrectomia Vertical por Laparoscopia e com menores resultados a Banda Gástrica Ajustável/ Banda Gástrica Ajustável por Laparoscopia. CONCLUSÕES: A cirurgia bariátrica continua a ser um método eficaz para o tratamento da obesidade mórbida ou obesidade grau 2 com pelo menos uma comorbilidade a curto prazo, sendo necessário o acompanhamento nutricional rigoroso para ajudar na obtenção de melhores resultados a longo prazo, bem como na sua manutenção.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos da combinação de óleos funcionais (OF) [ácido ricinoleico (AR) e líquido da castanha de caju (LCC)] no consumo e digestibilidade de nutrientes, fermentação ruminal, utilização de nitrogênio e estimativa de proteína microbiana de novilhas leiteiras. Doze novilhas da raça Jersey (14±0,6 meses e 264±18,7 kg PV) foram alocadas em um experimento de quadrado latino 4×4 contendo os tratamentos a seguir: controle (CON), uma dieta sem aditivos; Ácido ricinoleico, inclusão de 2g kg-1 de matéria seca (MS) de AR na dieta; Líquido da castanha de caju (LCC), inclusão de 2 g kg-1 MS de LCC na dieta; e uma mistura de 1 g kg-1 MS de AR e 1 g kg-1 MS de LCC na dieta (AR+LCC). Cada período experimental tinha 14 dias para adaptação aos tratamentos e 5 dias de coleta. O consumo de alimentos foi mensurado diariamente, e uma coleta total de fezes foi realizada durante 3 dias consecutivos de cada período experimental para determinar a digestibilidade de nutrientes. Amostras de fluído ruminal foram coletadas no último dia de cada período para determinação da concentração de ácidos graxos de cadeia curta. Amostras de urina foram coletadas no dia 18 de cada período para análises de nitrogênio e derivados de purina. O fornecimento de AR diminuiu o consumo de MS e proteína bruta (PB), mas aumentou a digestibilidade de proteína bruta e concentração ruminal de acetato. O fornecimento de LCC não afetou o consumo, mas aumentou a digestibilidade da fibra em detergente neutro (FDN). A associação de AR+LCC aumentou a digestibilidade da PB e FDN como também a concentração total de ácidos graxos de cadeia curta no rúmen, sem alterar o consumo de MS. O tratamento AR diminuiu a ingestão de N como também a excreção de N pelas fezes e urina. As novilhas do grupo LCC tiveram os maiores valores de N absorvido e retido enquanto as novilhas do grupo AR tiveram os menores valores. As novilhas do grupo RA tiveram menor estimativa de proteína microbiana em comparação com aquelas no grupo LCC e AR+LCC mas não diferiram do CON. Em conclusão, a associação de AR+LCC melhorou a digestibilidade da fibra e aumentou a concentração do total de ácidos graxos de cadeia curta no rúmen sem alterar o balanço de N e estimativa da proteína microbiana no rúmen.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the effects of combining functional oils (FO) [ricinoleic acid (RA) and cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL)] on nutrient intake and total-tract apparent digestibility, ruminal fermentation, nitrogen utilization, and predicted rumen microbial protein (Pmic) in heifers. Twelve Jersey heifers (14±0.6 months and 264±18.7 kg BW) were assigned to a 4 × 4 Latin square experiment with the following treatments: Control (CON), diet without feed additives; Ricinoleic acid, dietary inclusion of RA at 2 g kg-1 dry matter (DM); Cashew nutshell liquid, dietary inclusion of CNSL at 2 g kg-1 DM; and a mixture of 1 g kg-1 DM of RA and 1 g kg-1 DM of CNSL (RA+CNSL). Heifers were allowed 14 d for treatment adaptation followed by 5 days of sampling. Total feces collection was performed to determine digestibility. Rumen fluid was collected to determine short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) concentration. Urine samples were collected for nitrogen and purine derivatives analyses. Feeding RA decreased intake of DM, but increased crude protein (CP) digestibility and ruminal acetate concentration. Feeding CSNL increased NDF digestibility and lowered Pmic. The association of RA+CNSL increased neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibility and ruminal concentration of total SCFA without affecting DM intake. Feeding RA treatment decreased N intake and N excreted in feces and urine. CNSL group had the highest values of N balance. Heifers fed RA had lower Pmic than CNSL and RA+CNSL. The association of RA+CNSL improved digestibility of fiber and increased ruminal concentration of SCFA without altering N balance and Pmic.

Resumo A relativamente inexplorada emoção de awe, que pode ser descrita em português como a sensação de deslumbramento e transcendência perante a percepção subjetiva de grandiosidade, vem sendo experimentalmente associada a efeitos positivos de natureza diversa. Nos artigos encontrados para inclusão nesta revisão bibliográfica, foram relatados um aumento da pró-socialidade e de sentimentos afiliativos, melhoras no humor e na satisfação pessoal, e modificações na concepção dos participantes acerca do tempo, levando a uma redução da impaciência e incentivando a busca de experiências de crescimento pessoal em lugar de recompensas imediatas. Esse sentimento também pareceu encorajar o senso crítico com relação a tentativas de convencimento, além de promover a espiritualidade e a identificação de propósito na realidade.

Abstract The relatively uninvestigated emotion of awe has been experimentally associated with a wide range of positive effects. The articles retrieved for inclusion in this literature review reported an increase in prosociality and group affiliation, improvements in mood and personal satisfaction, and alterations in subjects' conception of time which reduced feelings of impatience and enhanced their disposition to seek personal growth experiences over immediate rewards. This emotion also seemed to encourage critical thinking with regard to persuasion attempts, and to promote spirituality as well as the identification of purpose in reality.

Abstract Hydrates are crystalline structures formed by water and substances with low molar mass molecules. Hydrate formation can occur during oil production when oil, gas and water ﬂow through the same lines in conditions of high pressure and low temperatures. The deposition of hydrate crystals in production lines can severely jeopardize the safety of operations, being one of the biggest issues of the oil and gas industry. The present work describes a study carried out on the formation of cyclopentane hydrates. Cyclopentane forms - at atmospheric pressure - type II-structure hydrates, which are similar to those formed by natural gas. In this study, hydrate formation was induced in two different systems, one obtained with the cationic surfactant DODAC (dioctadecyldimethylammonium chloride), water, mineral oil and cyclopentane, and the other with the anionic surfactant AOT (di-(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate of sodium), water and cyclopentane. The surfactants used can form emulsions or self-associated systems, depending on compositions and concentrations of the substances that are present in the samples. The stability of the hydrates formed in the different structures was analyzed. Moreover, we also perform a study of the stability of the structures obtained when the hydrate formation is induced.

RESUMO O objetivo da pesquisa é analisar a percepção dos auditores em relação à mensuração do valor justo dos instrumentos financeiros complexos nível 3 em instituições financeiras. Foi aplicado um questionário com uma amostra de 62 auditores independentes com qualificação técnica em instituições financeiras das grandes empresas de auditoria entre sócios, gerentes e auditores seniores. As ferramentas utilizadas foram o teste de regressão logística (LOGIT); o teste de Kruskal-Wallis, e o teste de análise de correspondência. A subjetividade foi uma característica implícita no processo em que os auditores se mantiveram conservadores, contudo foram identificadas divergências de valores que resultaram em questões imateriais e apontamento de divergências de mensuração de estimativas contábeis. Como sugestão de melhoria nos processos de auditoria, foi identificada uma formação acadêmica mais robusta e a inclusão de um especialista em finanças nas equipes. As opiniões divergem quanto aos sócios e gerentes, visto que aqueles apontaram maior concordância com as questões que os gerentes.

ABSTRACT The objective of the research is to analyze the auditors' perception regarding the measurement of the fair value of complex financial instruments level 3 in financial institutions. A questionnaire was applied with a sample of 62 independent auditors with technical qualification in financial institutions of large audit firms among partners, managers and senior auditors. The tools used were the Logistic Regression Test (LOGIT); The Kruskal-Wallis test, and the matching analysis test. Subjectivity was an implicit characteristic in the process where the auditors remained conservative. However, differences of values were identified that resulted in immaterial issues and an indication of divergences in the measurement of accounting estimates. As a suggestion of improvement in the audit processes, a more robust academic formation and the inclusion of a financial expert in the teams were identified. Opinions diverge as to the partners and managers, where they pointed out more agreement with the issues than the managers.

RESUMO Bacillus spp. têm sido utilizados contra bacterioses que acometem camarão marinho cultivado, proporcionando efeito benéfico sobre o hospedeiro, alterando a comunidade microbiana intestinal e melhorando índices zootécnicos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos de uma dieta suplementada com Bacillus cereus, bactéria com potencial probiótico em pós-larvas de Litopenaeus vannamei cultivados em laboratório. O experimento teve duração de quinze dias e consistiu de seis tratamentos: T1 controle; T2 somente com probiótico; T3 com Vibrio parahaemolyticus (VP); T4 com probiótico e com VP; T5 com V. alginolyticus (VA); e T6 com probiótico e com VA. Foram avaliados a sobrevivência, o ganho de peso, a capacidade de colonização das bactérias probióticas, contagem de patógenos e lesões histopatológicas. Não foi verificada diferença significativa (P=0,05) entre os tratamentos na sobrevivência. Os grupos desafiados com patógenos e sem uso de probióticos foram os que apresentaram menor ganho de peso. Na contagem de Bacillus cereus, houve diferença significativa (P<0,05) entre os tratamentos T2, T4 e T6 , observando-se que o probiótico competiu melhor por espaço e nutrientes quando confrontado com V. parahaemolyticus do que com V. alginolyticus. Os animais alimentados com ração suplementada de probiótico, apresentaram contagem inferior daqueles alimentados sem o uso (P<0,05). Não foram observadas lesões histopatológicas nos órgãos e tecidos dos animais. O Bacillus cereus demonstrou uma alta capacidade de colonizar pós-larvas de camarão, causando uma diminuição significativa de patógenos, provavelmente pela secreção de substâncias antimicrobianas e/ou por exclusão competitiva, justificando seu uso como uma bactéria probiótica.

ABSTRACT Bacillus spp. have been used against diseases caused by bacteria that affect cultured shrimp, providing beneficial effects on the host shrimps by altering their microbial community, and improving zootechnical indexes. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of a diet supplemented with Bacillus cereus-a bacterium with probiotic potential-on post-larvae Litopenaeus vannamei shrimps grown in laboratory. The experiment lasted for fifteen days and consisted of six treatments-control (T1), probiotic (T2), Vibrio parahaemolyticus (VP) (T3), probiotic and VP (T4), V. alginolyticus (VA) (T5), and probiotic and VA (T6). The survival rate, weight gain, colonization capacity of the probiotic bacteria, pathogen count, and histopathological lesions were evaluated. There was no significant difference (p=0.05) in survival between treatments. The groups with pathogens and without probiotics presented lower weight gain. The result of the Bacillus cereus count in the treatments T2, T4 and T6 were significantly different (p<0.05), the probiotic bacteria were more aggressive in competing for space and nutrients when compared to V. parahaemolyticus than when compared to V. alginolyticus. Animals fed with the probiotic presented lower counts of these pathogens than those fed without the probiotic (p<0.05). No histopathological lesions were found in the organs and tissues of the shrimps. Bacillus cereus showed a high colonizing capacity in post-larvae shrimps, causing a significant reduction of pathogens, probably by secreting antimicrobial substances and the competitive exclusion, which justifies their use as probiotic bacteria.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Pectus excavatum is defined as a depression approaching the sternum and costal cartilages to the spine. Several theories explain its etiology, the most accepted of which is the exaggerated growth of the costal cartilages, which causes a posterior displacement of the sternum and consequent depression. The treatment includes correction of breast asymmetries by using silicone breast implants in patients without cardiopulmonary symptoms, only with esthetic complaints. Methods: We reviewed the medical and photographic records of eight female patients diagnosed as having pectus excavatum, who underwent operation at a private hospital in the southern region of Brazil. These women sought consultation for local esthetic complaints and had no cardiorespiratory complaints. Results: Six patients submitted only for breast prosthesis placement. One patient had a prosthesis implanted 15 years before, which was replaced by a new implant in the same plane. Another patient had undergone pectus repair with Nuss surgery 10 years before, and the patient came to the hospital with a complaint of hypomasty and asymmetry. The preferred anesthesia was general anesthesia in five of the cases. The prosthesis inclusion plane in almost all the cases was subglandular. Only one patient had a complication (seroma). Conclusions: In our sample, the placement of breast prostheses in the patients with pectus excavatum brought harmonic esthetic results, attenuating and/or masking the chest defect, with satisfactory esthetic results for the patients.

RESUMO Introdução: O pectus excavatum é definido com uma depressão aproximando o esterno e as cartilagens costais à coluna vertebral. Existem diversas teorias em relação à etiologia; a mais aceita consiste no crescimento exagerado das cartilagens costais, causando um deslocamento posterior do esterno e consequente depressão. Dentre as formas de tratamento, encontra-se a correção das assimetrias mamárias utilizando próteses mamárias de silicone em pacientes sem sintomas cardiopulmonares, apenas com queixa estética. Métodos: Foram revisados os registros em prontuários e registros fotográficos de oito casos de pacientes femininas com diagnóstico de pectus excavatum operadas em um hospital privado na região Sul do Brasil, que procuravam o serviço com queixas estéticas locais, e não apresentavam queixas cardiorrespiratórias. Resultados: Seis casos foram submetidos somente à inclusão de prótese mamária. Uma paciente havia colocado prótese havia 15 anos, sendo essa substituída por novo implante, no mesmo plano. Outra paciente já havia realizado cirurgia de correção de pectus descrito por Nuss, 10 anos antes, vindo a consulta com queixa de hipomastia e assimetria. O tipo anestésico preferido foi a anestesia geral, em cinco dos casos. O plano de inclusão de prótese na quase totalidade dos casos foi o subglandular. Somente uma paciente apresentou complicação (seroma). Conclusões: Evidenciamos, na nossa amostra, que a inclusão de prótese mamária em pacientes com pectus excavatum é capaz de trazer resultados estético harmônicos, atenuando e/ou mascarando o defeito torácico, com resultados estéticos satisfatórios para os pacientes.

RESUMO O cultivo do Litopenaeus vannamei vem sendo ampliado nas áreas interioranas, fazendo uso de águas com baixa salinidade. As técnicas de cultivo em águas costeiras já estão bastante desenvolvidas, porém em condições de baixa salinidade são necessários vários estudos, como a composição iônica ideal da água e seus efeitos sobre os índices zootécnicos. O Brasil tem adotado essa estratégia e o semiárido surge como uma região de grande potencial, já que dispõe de clima e condições hídricas favoráveis. Desta forma, cultivos experimentais foram realizados no município de Serra Talhada - PE, com o objetivo de avaliar a influência de duas estratégias de alimentação (com e sem ração) e três densidades de cultivo (5, 10 e 15 camarões.m-2), nas variáveis de produção dessa espécie. Para tanto foram utilizados três viveiros escavados de 280 m2, onde foram instalados seis cercados de telas medindo 20 m2. A estocagem foi realizada com juvenis de 8,53 g, o cultivo teve duração de 50 dias e os animais foram alimentados duas vezes por dia com ração comercial, contendo 25% de proteína bruta, monitorada a qualidade da água (salinidade±1,0 g.L-1; temperatura ± 28,09ºC; pH ± 8,48; entre outros) e crescimento dos camarões durante o cultivo, com biometrias semanais. Foi detectada diferença significativa apenas no tratamento sem ração com 15 camarões.m-2, o peso médio final entre todos os tratamentos variou de 13,16±1,33 g a 15,50±1,66 g. As taxas de sobrevivências foram melhores nos tratamentos com ração, a variação entre os tratamentos foi de 60,56±6,76% e 83,00±4,00%.

ABSTRACT The cultivation of Litopenaeus vannamei has increased in inland areas by using low salinity waters. Cultivation techniques in coastal waters are well developed, however, studies for low salinity conditions are needed, especially regarding the ideal ionic composition of water and its effects on the zootechnical indices. Brazil has adopted this strategy and the semiarid region showed great potential due to its favorable climate and water conditions. Thus, experimental cultivations were conducted in Serra Talhada, State of Pernambuco, in order to evaluate the influence of two feeding strategies (with and without feeding) and three cultivation densities (5, 10 and 15 shrimps m-2), on the production variables of this species. Three ponds of 280 m2 were built, in which six nursery nets of 20 m2 were installed. The cultivation was performed with juvenile shrimps of 8.53 g and lasted 50 days. The animals were fed twice a day with commercial feed containing 25% of crude protein. The water quality (salinity ~1.0 g L-1, temperature ~28.09°C, pH ~8.48) and the shrimp growth were monitored with weekly biometry during the cultivation. A significant difference was found only in the treatment without feeding with 15 shrimps m-2, the average final weight of all treatments ranged from 13.16±1.33 g to 15.50±1.66 g. The survival rates were high in the treatments with feeding and its variation between treatments was 60.56±6.76% and 83.00±4.00%.

ABSTRACT Breast augmentation with silicone implants is one of the most common procedures performed by plastic surgeons around the world. Capsular contracture is a frequent complication in breast augmentation and reconstructive surgery, that requires invasive intervention. The inflammatory response to implanted mammary prostheses appears to be directly associated to capsular contracture. This review discusses the evidences from rat models studies, on the role of inflammation and fibrosis in capsular contraction and its relation to silicone breast implants surface.

Este artigo pretende analisar o papel dos gestos na construção de metáforas multimodais no gênero "debate político-eleitoral". Do ponto de vista teórico, levamos em consideração que os gestos metafóricos podem ser analisados como expressões de metáforas conceptuais. Abordamos e ilustramos, sobretudo, a importância da orientação especial na emergência de metáforas no discurso político. Do ponto de vista metodológico, selecionamos quatro sequências de um debate de segundo turno. Partindo do princípio operacional de excursão gestual, observamos, especificamente, a metaforicidade multimodal em compostos verbo-gestuais. Após analisar as metáforas encontradas nas cenas de debate, estabelecemos um continuum entre metáforas que possuem uma natureza convencional e aquelas que possuem uma natureza nova. Além disso, tentamos estabelecer uma relação comparativa entre as metáforas utilizadas pelos dois candidatos: Dilma Rousseff (do PT) e José Serra (do PSDB).

This paper intends to analyze the role of gestures in the construction of multimodal metaphors in the "political-electoral debate" genre. Theoretically, we considered that metaphoric gestures can be analyzed as expressions of conceptual metaphors. We mainly approached and illustrated the importance of spatial orientation in the emergence of the metaphors in the political discourse. Methodologically, we have selected four sequences of a second-tour debate. Starting from the operational concept of gesture excursion, we specifically observed the multimodal metaphoricity in speech and gesture compounds. After analyzing the metaphors found in the debate sequences, we established a continuumbetween metaphors of a conventional nature and those of a new nature. We also tried to establish a comparative relation between the metaphors used by the two candidates, Dilma Rousseff (from the Labor Party) and José Serra (from the Social Democratic Party).

O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar dois protocolos de hipofisação, na indução à desova de curimatã-pacu.Testou-se a aplicação de dose única ou duas doses de extrato bruto de hipófise de carpa-comum. Não houve diferença significativa entre os protocolos quanto às taxas de fêmeas que desovaram, fertilização e larvas deformadas. A aplicação de dose única resultou em valores de horas-graus até a extrusão dos ovócitos maiores do que em duas doses. A aplicação de uma única dose representou menor consumode água, energia e tempo. O protocolo da dose única pode ser utilizado como alternativa para a indução à desova de curimatã-pacu.

The objective of this work was to compare two hypophysation protocols in the spawning induction of curimatã-pacu. The application of a single dose or two doses of crude carp pituitary extract was tested. That there was no significant difference among the protocols for the rate of females that have spawned, fertilization and deformed larvae. A single dose application resulted in higher degree-hour values until the oocyte extrusion than two doses. The application of a single dose represented a lower consumption of water, energy, and handling time. A single dose protocol can be used as an alternative for inducing the curimatã-pacu spawning.

Objetivou-se avaliar a influência da vitamina C (VC), vitamina E (VE) e de duas formas de selênio sobre o desempenho, rendimento e qualidade do filé de tilápia Nilótica. O experimento foi realizado num delineamento inteiramente casualizado composto por seis tratamentos, os quais foram constituídos pela adição de 100, 200 e 400 mg kg-1 das vitaminas C e E, associados com 0,1, 0,2 e 0,4 mg kg-1 de duas formas de selênio. Cada tratamento foi constituído por cinco repetições de 30 peixes cada. A dieta com 200 mg kg-1 de VC e VE + 0,2 mg kg-1 de selênio orgânico proporcionou ganho de peso, comprimento corporal e fator de conversão alimentar semelhantes aos tratamentos com 400 mg kg-1 de VC e VE + 0,4 mg kg-1 de selênio orgânico ou inorgânico. A adição de selênio orgânico à dieta melhorou o ganho de peso e o fator de conversão alimentar em comparação com o selênio inorgânico. A dieta com 0,2 mg kg-1 de selênio orgânico apresentou nível de glutationa peroxidase igual ao da dieta com 0,4 mg kg-1 de selênio inorgânico. Os rendimentos de carcaça e filé não foram influenciados pelos tratamentos, entretanto houve efeito dos tratamentos na composição química do filé.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of vitamin C (VC), vitamin E (VE), and two selenium sources on the performance, yield, and composition of Nile tilapia fillet. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design consisting of six treatments with the addition of 100, 200, and 400 mg kg-1 VC and VE and 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4 of two sources of selenium. Each treatment had five replicates of 30 fish each. The diet with 200 mg kg-1 VC and VE + 0.2 mg.k-1 organic selenium resulted in weight gain, length gain, and feed conversion ratio similar to that of the treatment with 400 mg kg-1 VC and VE + 0.4 mg kg-1 organic or inorganic selenium. The addition of organic selenium to the diet improved the weight gain and feed conversion ratio in comparison with the addition of inorganic selenium. The diet with 0.2 mg kg-1 organic selenium showed glutathione peroxidase level equal to the diet with 0.4 mg kg-1 of inorganic selenium. Carcass and fillet yields were not affected by treatments; however, there was treatment effect on the fillet's chemical composition.
