The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education is a current topic and in Chemistry teaching it has the potential to offer some benefits. This article is the first attempt to show that activities involving Chemistry can be accelerated with the help of AI. This is a propaedeutic study that aimed to analyze the contributions of the ChatGPT AI in defining chemical concepts. The research was conducted in the virtual environment of the chatbot and was carried out in four stages. The results show that ChatGPT can be used in Chemistry teaching as an aid to the teaching and learning process. Additionally, depending on the chemical concept, AI provided coherent answers but could lead students to difficulties in understanding. Finally, the use of ChatGPT in Chemistry teaching needs to be guided by a process of reflection, so that from the AI’s responses, students present critical thinking, the teacher considers it as just another resource in Chemistry teaching, besides other actions that can be developed in Chemistry teaching to ensure that the ChatGPT AI is used ethically and responsibly. The flipped classroom is one of the types of rotation model strategies that aim of increasing interaction and personalized contact time between students and teachers in the classroom setting. In this study, we investigated the application of the flipped classroom strategy in two classes of the different semesters in the discipline of Organic Chemistry. The teacher applied this strategy in different ways in order to verify how the flipped classroom can contribute to the teaching and learning process in the content of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). The research, of qualitative nature, is a case study being carried out in six steps with the participation of twenty-five students and one teacher. The instruments used for data collection were an investigative questionnaire (applied to students) and a structured interview (carried out with the teacher). The results show that the students had control over their learning, presenting a favorable position for the application of the strategy. In addition, the teacher reported that it was possible to deepen the content of NMR with his students, teaching the class in a different way than he was used to, focusing on doubts (individual and collective), as well as comments regarding the materials produced by him.

Proclaimed by UNESCO the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements in 2019 (IYPT 2019) will commemorate a remarkable series of important milestones in the history of the periodic table of chemical elements. The periodic table is a valuable instrument for chemistry teaching and their study is important in the development of key chemical concepts. In this sense, this paper aims to present a systematic review of the literature on the productions involving the periodic table in the chemistry teaching, sought answer how the periodic table has been used in the chemistry teaching and what didactic strategies used. For this, a systematic review was carried out in six chemistry journals (with papers in the area of Chemical Education) in the period 2009-2018. During the review, we found four categories (level of education, approach, strategy, didactic/pedagogical resource). The results show that of the 28 articles analyzed, 40% of the publications used didactic/pedagogical approaches. Furthermore, it was possible to observe that ludicity (43%), bibliographic survey (25%) and didactic sequences (18%) represented the strategies most used in these articles. Finally, was evidence that card games, board games, and digital games are the most used didactic/pedagogical resources in the journals’ publications.
