Abstract There are several characteristics that influence fire resistance of load-bearing masonries, wherein stand out the bricks compressive strength. Verification of wall systems fire behavior was conducted as prescribed by NBR 5628. This research aims to comparatively analyze fire resistance in real scale load-bearing walls, considering thermal insulation, structural stability, and airtightness. The thickness of the coating and laying mortar were standardized for all specimens just varying brick geometry and septs design in blocks of EST 60, 100, and 140 class. The obtained results show that the compressive strength of the bricks can induce both the structural stability of the constructive systems and its thermal insulation, being a typically critical characteristic for clay brick walls in a building fire. The sample with the highest compressive strength obtained the shortest local displacement, contributing to mitigate the generation of fissures in the system, enhancing the thermal insulation of the clay brick wall, and, thereby, its fire resistance.

Resumo Diversas características influenciam a resistência ao fogo de sistema de parede em alvenaria estrutural, dentre as quais pode se incluir sua resistência à compressão. O comportamento desse sistema é validado experimentalmente conforme a norma NBR 5628. Esse estudo tem como objetivo analisar comparativamente a resistência ao fogo obtida através de ensaios em escala real em alvenaria estrutural, envolvendo as características de isolamento térmico, estanqueidade a passagem de gases e fumaça e estabilidade estrutural. Foram avaliados componentes com a mesma configuração em termos de revestimento e assentamento, assumindo como variável a resistência a compressão dos blocos, tendo sido considerados neste estudo blocos de classe EST 60, 100 e 140. Os resultados obtidos apontam que a resistência à compressão da alvenaria pode influenciar, além da estabilidade estrutural do sistema, também seu isolamento térmico, critério tipicamente crítico para alvenarias de blocos cerâmicos em situação de incêndio. A amostra de maior resistência à compressão apresentou menor deslocamento horizontal, contribuindo para mitigar a geração de fissuras, aumentando a oposição da alvenaria à passagem da temperatura ao longo de sua seção transversal e assim aumentar sua resistência ao fogo.

Abstract In rooms with unsatisfactoryauditory comfort, materials can be added to reduce the reflection of sound energy. These materials can be wools shaped in the form of panels, baffles or clouds, and the type of mounting in relation to the reflective surface greatly impacts their sound absorption performance. Therefore, the objective of this study is to verify the effect of row spacing in the sound absorption capacity of PET baffle arrangements. Sound absorption tests were performed in a reverberation room, testing PET wool baffles with a height of 50 cm and mounted in rows spaced 25 cm, 50 cm, 75 cm and 100 cm apart. The sound absorption results strongly correlate that the increase in row spacing in increments of 25 cm achieves considerable gains in sound absorption capacity of the baffles at each configuration starting from a spacing of 25 cm and up to 100 cm.

Resumo Em ambientes com qualidade acústica insatisfatória, materiais podem ser inseridos para reduzir a energia sonora refletida. Estes materiais podem ser constituídos por lãs na forma de painéis, baffles ou nuvens, sendo que o tipo de instalação, em relação às superfícies reflexivas, influencia na capacidade de absorção sonora. Desta forma, o objetivo deste trabalho é o de avaliar a influência do espaçamento entre fileiras de baffles a base de PET na sua capacidade de absorção sonora. Ensaios para verificação dos coeficientes de absorção sonora foram realizados em uma câmara reverberante, analisando baffles de 50 cm de altura, montados com espaçamentos de 25, 50, 75 e 100 cm. Os coeficientes de absorção sonora são fortemente relacionados com o incremento no espaçamento, com adições de 25 cm, para o intervalo de 25 a 100 cm de espaçamento, sendo que houve ganhos de desempenho entre cada aumento de espaçamento.

Resumo Percebe-se uma maior preocupação com o desempenho das edificações habitacionais após a publicação da NBR 15575 (ABNT, 2013a), tornando indispensável a avaliação e possível adequação de sistemas construtivos e seus materiais para atendimento dos requisitos. Dentre as imposições relativas à habitabilidade, encontra-se o desempenho acústico, imprescindível na concepção de projetos em ambientes urbanos, dadas as inúmeras fontes sonoras potentes existentes. O objetivo deste artigo foi de verificar a influência da espessura de revestimentos de argamassa estabilizada, aplicados em alvenarias com dois tipos de blocos cerâmicos, com variação nas espessuras internas e externas de argamassa, verificando a relação entre o incremento de massa, a curva de isolamento e o índice de redução sonora ponderado (Rw). Os ensaios foram executados em ambiente laboratorial, seguindo as prescrições da ISO 10140-2 (INTERNATIONAL..., 2010b). Foi possível relacionar a espessura de revestimento com o desempenho acústico, resultando na redução de insumos, custos e peso próprio da edificação. Identificou-se que o incremento de 5 cm de revestimento de argamassa acarretou em um aumento de até 7 dB no isolamento sonoro entre ambientes.

Abstract After the publication of NBR 15575 (ABNT, 2013a) concern with the performance of residential buildings has grown markedly, leading companies to evaluate and adjust construction systems and materials in order to meet the requirements. One of the requirements is acoustic design, due to the powerful and complex sound sources. The aim of this study is to analyse the influence of the thickness of stabilised mortar coatings applied to masonry made with two types of ceramic blocks, with variation in the internal and external mortar thicknesses, verifying the relation between mass increase, the insulation curve and the weighted sound reduction index (Rw). The tests were performed in a laboratory environment, following the requirements of ISO 10140-2 (INTERNATIONAL..., 2010b). The tests demonstrated that there was a correlation between the thickness of the coating and the acoustic performance, resulting in the reduction of raw materials, costs and dead weight of the building. They also showed that an increase of 5 cm in the mortar coating resulted in an increase of up to 7 dB in sound insulation between rooms.
