Resumo A experiência de verter ao português textos científicos de Mikhail Bakhtin e do Círculo nos motivou a elaborar uma reflexão teórica sobre a atividade de traduzir por meio da articulação de três domínios teóricos: os conceitos de perspectivismo e de multinaturalismo do antropólogo brasileiro Eduardo Viveiros de Castro; os conceitos de dialogismo, de distanciamento, de extralocalização, de excedente de conhecimento e de inconclusibilidade do pensador russo Mikhail Bakhtin; e o princípio da comparação da análise comparativa de discursos de Patricia von Münchow. Abstract The experience of translating Mikhail Bakhtin’s and the Circle’s scientific texts into Portuguese motivated us to develop a theoretical reflection on the activity of translation through the articulation of three theoretical domains: the concepts of perspectivism and multinaturalism by the Brazilian anthropologist Eduardo Viveiros de Castro; Mikhail Bakhtin’s concepts of dialogism, distance, extralocalization, surplus of knowledge and inconclusiveness; and the principle of comparative discourse analysis by Patricia von Münchow. The comparison crosses and articulates these three domains, which, together, provide an understanding of translating as a dialogue of unfinished cultures that point to different worlds and are transformed in this encounter. RESUMO Recuperar parte do contexto de escrita do livro “A cultura popular na Idade Média e no Renascimento. O contexto de François Rabelais” (1965), compreendido entre 1930 e 1952, é a tarefa a que nos propomos neste artigo. Essa tarefa justifica-se por oferecer ao público brasileiro o conhecimento da relação estreita entre a teoria do romance e o trabalho sobre Rabelais, bem como das circunstâncias em que o texto foi escrito. A pesquisa de caráter historiográfico ancora-se em fontes primárias e secundárias e reconhece sua natureza inconclusa e provisória. Os resultados revelaram: a conexão estreita entre a teoria do romance elaborada nos anos 1930 e o livro sobre Rabelais; o fato de que “Problemas da criação de Dostoiévski” (BAKHTIN, 2000[1929]) entrou para a história da teoria literária soviética logo após sua publicação; a personalidade científica de Mikhail Bakhtin; a dimensão revolucionária da obra de François Rabelais.

ABSTRACT Recovering part of the context in which, Popular culture in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance. The context of François Rabelais (1965), understood as being from between the years of 1930 to 1952, is the task we propose to undertake in this article. This endeavor is justified in that it offers the Brazilian public knowledge about the direct relationship between the theory of the novel and Bakhtin’s work on Rabelais, as well as the circumstances in which the text was written. The research, characterized as historiographic, is based on primary and secondary sources, and recognizes that it is inconclusive and provisory in nature. the direct connection between the theory of the novel, developed in the 1930s, and the book on Rabelais; the fact that Problems of Dostoevky’s Poetics (BAKHTIN, 1984 [1929]) entered the history of Soviet literary theory soon after its publication; Mikhail Bakhtin’s scientific personality; and the revolutionary dimension of François Rabelais’ work.

RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é buscar uma melhor compreensão do conceito de romance polifônico proposto por Mikhail Bakhtin no livro Problemas da criação de Dostoiévski (1929), por meio da recuperação da gênese do texto na cronologia da obra bakhtiniana, bem como dos interlocutores russos e soviéticos de duas áreas: crítica/teoria da literatura e filosofia. A pesquisa bibliográfica e o cotejo dos textos revelaram, por um lado, as fontes do conceito de polifonia, e, por outro, as formulações originais de Bakhtin.

ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to arrive at a better understanding of Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of the polyphonic novel, proposed in the book Problems of Dostoevsky’s Creation (1929), in the first place, by recovering the genesis of the text within the chronology of Bakhtin’s works, and secondly, through Russian and Soviet interlocutors in two fields: Literary Theory/Criticism, and Philosophy. Bibliographic research, and cross-checking texts revealed, on the one hand, the sources of the concept of polyphony, and, on the other, Bakhtin’s original formulations.

Resumo O artigo objetiva demonstrar a tradução como ato criativo e cultural, ao analisar comparativamente trechos de Cours de Linguistique Générale [Curso de Linguística Geral] em suas traduções ao russo e ao português. Para tanto, a metalinguística bakhtiniana mostra-se fértil ao englobar fatores extralinguísticos à análise, a partir de conceitos como: enunciado, destinatário presumido, horizonte social, gênero. Além disso, proveniente da noção bakhtiniana de enunciado, o conceito de re-enunciado (tradução) trabalhado por Heber Silva (2018) contribui para elaborar nossa compreensão de tradução, que abarca as características do enunciado, especialmente a da interação discursiva como realidade do ato linguístico. Os resultados da análise evidenciaram como o contexto sócio-histórico e acadêmico dos respectivos países (Brasil da década de 1960/1970, com o início do desenvolvimento da disciplina Linguística na academia; União Soviética da década de 1930, com uma longa tradição acadêmica desde o século XIX) influenciam por dentro na composição e no estilo dos re-enunciados.

Abstract The article aims to demonstrate how translation is a creative and cultural act by comparatively analyzing excerpts of Cours de Linguistique Générale [General Linguistics Course] in its Russian and Brazilian translations. To this end, Bakhtinian metalinguistics seems fruitful, since it includes extralinguistic factors to the analysis, from concepts like: utterance, presumed addressee, social purview, genre. Besides that, derived from Bakhtin’s notion of utterance, the concept of re-utterance (translation) with which Heber Silva (2018) deals contributes to elaborate the understanding of translation – one that embraces the utterance characteristics, especially verbal interaction as the reality of the linguistic act. The results of the analysis showed the influence from the inside of the re-utterance composition and style caused by the social-historic and academic context of the respective countries (1960’s/1970’s Brazil, with the beginning of the development of Linguistics as a discipline in the academy; 1930’s Soviet Union, with a long academic tradition since XIX century).

RESUMO: O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar os resultados de uma pesquisa em análise comparativa de manuais de introdução à linguística brasileiro e soviético do final dos anos 1960 e início dos anos 1970. A delimitação do material de comparação foi empreendida por meio do procedimento metodológico denominado tertium comparationis, tal como ele foi desenvolvido pelos pesquisadores do Clesthia – axe sens et discours. A análise dos manuais foi orientada pelos conceitos e procedimentos elaborados por Bakhtin e o Círculo. Concluímos que a história da ciência nas duas línguas/culturas, o diálogo com a linguística desenvolvida em países com maior tradição na área e o meio social mais amplo foram fatores que fixaram limites, exerceram pressões e direcionaram sentidos para as apresentações da linguística aos futuros integrantes dessa ciência. A interação desses três processos sociohistóricos são fundamentais na definição das escolas linguísticas, na delimitação do objeto da linguística e na avaliação dos seus métodos.

ABSTRACT: The objective of this article is to present the results of a research in the comparative analysis of Brazilian and Soviet Introductory Linguistics textbooks from the late 1960s to the early 1970s. The selection of the materials being compared was carried out using the tertium comparationis method, developed by researchers from the Clesthia — axe sens et discours group. The analysis of the textbooks was based on concepts and procedures developed by Bakhtin and the Circle. We conclude that, in the history of the science, in the two languages/cultures, the dialogue with linguistics developed in countries with a stronger tradition in the field and a broader social arena were factors that set limits, exerted pressures and directed meanings in the presentation of linguistics to the future researchers in this field of science. The interaction of these three sociohistorical processes are fundamental in the definition of the schools of linguistics, in the delimitation of the object of study of linguistics, and in the evaluation of its methods.

RESUMO Este artigo investiga a forma com que enunciados orais de divulgação científica se adaptam ao meio digital, especificamente ao YouTube, para realizar sua função principal: criar em seu interlocutor uma cultura científica a partir do seu fundo aperceptível de compreensão responsiva e da cultura discursiva com que este se identifica. Para tanto, analisa-se a transmissão do discurso alheio em um canal brasileiro, Nerdologia, e um americano, Scishow, baseando-se, por um lado, nos preceitos teóricos do Círculo de Bakhtin, e, por outro, nas propostas teórico-metodológicas da análise contrastiva de discursos. A partir disso, encontramos no corpus relações entre as ocorrências quantitativas e qualitativas dos modos de transmissão do discurso alheio, que, ao mesmo tempo, ressaltam semelhanças entre os dois canais, traçando um espectro geral das adaptações sofridas por essa modalidade discursiva no meio digital, e apontam suas diferenças, que se relacionam com as diferentes culturas discursivas que os enunciados materializam.

ABSTRACT This article investigates how oral utterances in science dissemination are modified in digital media, specifically on YouTube, to achieve their main goal of developing a scientific culture among the viewing public from their apperceptive background of responsive understanding and from within the discursive culture with which they identify. To this end, we analyze the transmission of alien discourse on the Brazilian channel Nerdologia and the American channel Scishow. The analysis is based, on the one hand, on the theoretical precepts of the Bakhtin Circle, and, on the other hand, on the theoretical-methodological proposal of contrastive discourse analysis. Based on this framework, we found relationships between the quantitative and qualitative occurrences of forms of transmission of alien discourse in the corpus. In both cases, they highlight similarities between the two channels, outlining a general spectrum of changes made by this discursive modality in digital media and point to their differences, related to the different discursive cultures actualized by the utterances.

RESUMO O objetivo central deste artigo é compreender, por um lado, as relações dialógicas entre os textos de Volóchinov e a teoria de Freud e, por outro, a recepção do freudismo entre marxistas soviéticos da primeira metade dos anos 1920 e marxistas europeus. Nossas principais descobertas foram: boa parte dos marxistas soviéticos do período mencionado argumentavam que o marxismo e o freudismo encontravam-se sob os mesmos pressupostos do materialismo dialético, Volóchinov rejeita o freudismo sobretudo em razão das críticas de Freud ao Estado soviético, marxistas soviéticos e europeus ora tentaram unir freudismo ao marxismo, ora buscaram traçar as diferenças entre as duas teorias.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this article is to understand, on the one hand, the dialogical relationships between the texts of Voloshinov and Freud's theory and, on the other hand, the reception of Freud among Soviet Marxists from the first half of the 1920s and by European Marxists. Our main findings included evidence that: a great number of Soviet Marxists from the period mentioned argued that Marxism and Freudianism interfaced regarding the same presuppositions of dialectical materialism; Voloshinov rejected Freudianism, above all, due to Freud's criticism of the Soviet State; and, finally, Soviet and European Marxists tried to link Freudianism to Marxism, or trace the differences between the two theories.

RESUMO: Neste artigo relatamos e descrevemos as descobertas de nossa pesquisa realizada nos arquivos da Filial de São Petersburgo do Arquivo da Academia Russa de Ciências, onde foram consultadas os documentos do Instituto da História Comparada das Literaturas e Línguas do Ocidente e Oriente (ILIAZV), lugar de atuação de Valentín Nikoláievitch Volóchinov entre 1925 e 1932. A pesquisa documental permitiu o conhecimento da trajetória acadêmica e mesmo pessoal desse autor, na época em que produziu, entre outras, a obra Marxismo e filosofia da linguagem. Problemas fundamentais do método sociológico na ciência da linguagem. Entre os principais achados da consulta ao arquivo destacamos: a forte presença da teoria marxista em diversas atividades do ILIAZV, a participação de Volóchinov nessas atividades, a atuação de Volóchinov na seção de metodologia da literatura, a presença de temas de trabalhos de Medviédev e de Bakhtin em planos dos relatórios de Volóchinov entregues ao ILIAZV, o reconhecimento dos méritos acadêmicos de Volóchinov por pesquisadores do ILIAZV, a metodologia de trabalho de Volóchinov, as mudanças nas instituições acadêmicas soviéticas entre 1925 e 1932.

ABSTRACT: In this article, we report on and describe findings from our research, conducted at the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Archives, where we consulted documents from the Institute of Comparative History of Literatures and Languages of East and West (ILIAZV), and where Valentin Nikolaievitch Voloshinov worked between 1925 and 1932. The bibliographic research allowed us to understand the academic, and even personal, trajectory of this author, during the period in which he wrote Marxism and the philosophy of language and Fundamental problems with the sociological method in the science of language, among other works. The primary findings of this archival consultation include: a strong presence of Marxist theory in various activities of the ILIAZV; the participation of Voloshinov in those activities; Voloshinov's work in the sector of literature methodology; the presence of themes of works by Medvedev and Bakhtin, found in Voloshinov's reports to the ILIAZV; the recognition of Voloshinov's academic merits by ILIAZV researchers; Voloshinov's work methods; and, finally, changes in Soviet academic institutions between 1925 and 1932.

RESUMO O objetivo do artigo é realizar uma análise comparativa da divulgação científica no Brasil e na Rússia. Os fundamentos teórico-metodológicos dessa comparação foram construídos na confluência entre a teoria bakhtiniana e a análise comparativa de discursos, esta presente nos trabalhos dos pesquisadores do Cediscor. A partir desses fundamentos, construímos um corpus de enunciados das edições brasileira e russa da revista Scientific American e pudemos observar, por um lado, grandes semelhanças nos gêneros artigo e reportagem de divulgação científica nas duas comunidades etno-linguísticas, e, por outro, diferenças no que concerne à relação com o discurso alheio e o uso de tempos e modos verbais.

ABSTRACT The objective of this article is to conduct a comparative analysis of scientific popularization in Brazil and in Russia. The theoretical and methodological basis of this comparison was provided by combining Bakhtin's theory and comparative discourse analysis, present in the works of the Cediscor researchers. Based on it, we constructed a corpus of utterances of the Brazilian and Russian editions of the Scientific American magazine. As a result, we were able to observe, on the one hand, significant similarities in the genres "article" and "report of scientific popularization" in both ethno-linguistic communities, and, on the other hand, differences regarding their relation with reported speech and the use of verbal tenses and moods.

A divulgação de saberes elaborados na esfera científica é constitutiva das funções educativas da mídia. Diante disso, este artigo discute as relações e os diferentes valores sociais atribuídos a textos da esfera científica e da jornalística; compara a difusão de saberes na mídia e na escola e identifica as marcas do funcionamento discursivo em textos de divulgação científica na mídia impressa.

The diffusion of knowledge elaborated in the scientific sphere is constitutive of the educational functions of the media. This study thus discusses the relationships between texts in the scientific and journalistic spheres and the different values they are given; comparing the diffusion of knowledge by the media and the formal educational system, it identifies the marks of the discursive functioning in texts dealing with the transmission of scientific knowledge.
