RESUMO: Avaliamos em condições de campo a toxicidade de inseticidas previamente identificados como nocivos em bioensaios de laboratório e semicampo sobre o parasitóide Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae). Os experimentos foram conduzidos durante as safras 2019/20 e 2020/21 em lavouras de arroz. Seguindo as recomendações da International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC), quatro inseticidas foram aplicados em parcelas experimentais de 64 m2. Posteriormente, realizou-se uma liberação inundativa de T. pretiosum. Para verificar as taxas de parasitismo, aos 1, 2, 4 e 6 dias após a liberação (DAR) dos parasitoides, ovos do hospedeiro Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) foram ofertados. Após a determinação do número de ovos parasitados, os dados foram agrupados em um coeficiente de redução (Ex) para fornecer um resultado único para os efeitos dos inseticidas sobre o parasitoide. Tanto para as safras 2019/20 quanto 2020/21, verificou-se que em 2 DAR, ocorreram as maiores taxas de parasitismo. Em contraste, aos 6 DAR, não foram observadas taxas de parasitismo. Lambda-cialotrina, tiametoxam e zeta-cipermetrina foram classificados como moderadamente nocivos; tiametoxam + lambda-cialotrina foi classificado como prejudicial. Seguindo as diretrizes da IOBC, a toxicidade desses produtos em condições de campo é inferior à obtida em laboratório ou semi-campo para o T. pretiosum. Entretanto, esses inseticidas devem ser evitados, ou utilizados em momentos que não coincidam com a liberação ou presença do parasitoide a campo.

ABSTRACT: We evaluated under field conditions the toxicity of insecticides previously identified as harmful in laboratory and semifield bioassays on the parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae). The experiments were conducted during the 2019/20 and 2020/21 harvests in rice fields. Following the recommendations of the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC), four insecticides were applied in 64 m2 experimental plots. Subsequently, T. pretiosum was released inundatively. To verify parasitism rates, at 1, 2, 4 and 6 days after release (DAR) of the parasitoids, eggs from the host Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) were offered. After determining the number of parasitized eggs, the data were grouped into a reduction coefficient (Ex) to provide a single result for the effects of the insecticides on parasitoid. For both the 2019/20 and 2020/21 evaluated crops, it was found that at 2 DAR, the highest parasitism rates occurred. In contrast, in 6 DAR, no parasitism rates were observed. Lambda-cyhalothrin, thiamethoxam, and zeta-cypermethrin were classified as moderately harmful; thiamethoxam + lambda-cyhalothrin was classified as harmful. Following IOBC guidelines, the toxicity of these products under field conditions is lower than that obtained in the laboratory or semi-field for the T. pretiosum. However, these insecticides should be avoided, or used at times that do not coincide with the release or presence of the parasitoid in the field.

Abstract The objective was to evaluate the residual action of the insecticides acetamiprid + etofenprox, spinetoram, indoxacarb and methoxyfenozide on the predator Chrysoperla externa Hagen, 1861 (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae). The bioassays followed the methodologies proposed by the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC). The insecticides were sprayed on grapevine plants cv. Burgundy, using the maximum recommended field dosage for fruit trees. Larvae and adults of the predator were exposed to leaves containing the insecticide residues, at 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 days after spraying, to determine the residual effect on the following biological parameters: mortality, fecundity and fertility. Based on the toxicity observed during the bioassays, the insecticides were classified according to the IOBC persistence scale. Spinetoram was classified as moderately persistent to larvae and slightly persistent to adults, indoxacarb also he was consideredpersistent for larvae and as a short-lived for the adult stage of the lacewing, thus showing the difference in susceptibility between the stages of development of C. externa. The insecticides acetamiprid + etofenprox and methoxyfenozide are the most suitable for ecologically safe application, in areas where the predator occurs because they are classified as short-lived insecticides for the larval and adult stages of C. externa.

Resumo O objetivo foi avaliar a ação residual dos inseticidas acetamipride + etofenproxi, espinetoram, indoxacarbe e metoxifenozida sobre o predador Chrysoperla externa Hagen, 1861 (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae). Os bioensaios seguiram as metodologias propostas pela International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC). Os inseticidas foram pulverizados em plantas de videira cv. Borgonha, usando a dosagem máxima de campo recomendada para frutíferas. Larvas e adultos do predador foram expostos às folhas contendo os resíduos do inseticida, aos 3, 10, 17, 24 e 31 dias após a pulverização, para determinar o efeito residual sobre os seguintes parâmetros biológicos: mortalidade, fecundidade e fertilidade. Com base na toxicidade observada durante os bioensaios, os inseticidas foram classificados de acordo com a classificação de persistência da IOBC. Espinetoram foi classificado como moderadamente persistente para larvas e levemente persistente para adultos, indoxacarbe também foi considerado moderadamente persistente para larvas e, como de vida curta para a fase adulta do crisopídeo, mostrando assim a diferença de suscetibilidade entre os estágios de desenvolvimento de C. externa. Os inseticidas acetamiprido + etofenproxi e metoxifenozida são os mais indicados para aplicação ecologicamente segura, em áreas onde o predador ocorre naturalmente, pois são classificados como inseticidas de vida curta (classe 1) para os estágios larval e adulto de C. externa.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a persistência (duração da atividade nociva) de cinco inseticidas utilizados no controle de pragas em pessegueiro, em larvas e adultos do predador Chrysoperla externa. Os inseticidas foram pulverizados em plantas de videira cv. Bordô utilizando-se a máxima dosagem recomendada para o pessegueiro. Semanalmente, aos 3, 10, 17, 24 e 31 dias após a pulverização, larvas e adultos do predador foram expostos a folhas pulverizadas para determinação do efeito residual dos inseticidas na mortalidade e possíveis efeitos na reprodução. Em função da toxicidade observada ao longo dos bioensaios semanais, os inseticidas foram classificados conforme a escala de persistência da International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants (IOBC). Alta persistência foi obtida para os inseticidas (% de ingrediente ativo) fosmete (0,100) e malationa (0,200), sendo ambos considerados persistentes (> 30 dias de ação nociva) para larvas e adultos de C. externa. De forma semelhante, o inseticida do grupo das benzoilureias, lufenurom (0,005), que age exclusivamente sobre estágios imaturos de insetos, foi persistente para larvas. Diferenças quanto a persistência para ambos os estágios avaliados foi observada para o inseticida piretroide deltametrina (0,001), que se mostrou persistente para larvas, porém mode-radamente persistente (16 – 30 dias de ação nociva) para adultos; e para o organofosforado fentiona (0,050), que foi considerado moderadamente persistente para larvas e de vida curta (< 5 dias de ação nociva) para adultos de C. externa.

ABSTRACT This work aimed to evaluate the persistence (duration of harmful activity) of five insecticides used for pest control in peach orchards, on larvae and adults of the predator Chrysoperla externa. The insecticides were sprayed on cv. Bordô vine plants using the maximum dosage recommended for peach orchards. Weekly, at 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 days after spraying, larvae and adults of the predator were exposed to treated leaves in order to assess the residual effect of insecticides on mortality and possible effects on reproduction. Given the toxicity observed along the weekly bioassays, the insecticides were classified into persistence categories established by the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants (IOBC). High persistence was obtained for the organophosphorus insecticides (% of active ingredient) phosmet (0.100) and malathion (0.200), and both were considered persistent (> 30 days of harmful activity) to larvae and adults of C. externa. Similarly, the benzoylurea insecticide lufenuron (0.005), which acts exclusively on immature stages of insects, was persistent to larvae. Differences concerning the persistence for both development stages evaluated were observed for the pyrethroid insecticide deltamethrin (0.001), that was persistent to larvae but moderately persistent (16 – 30 days of harmful activity) to adults; and for the organophosphate fenthion (0.050) which was considered moderately persistent to larvae and short-lived (< 5 days of harmful activity) to adults of C. externa.

RESUMO Cultivares resistentes a insetos são essenciais à melhoria do manejo de pragas como Oryzophagus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), altamente prejudicial à cultura do arroz irrigado por inundação. O grau de benefício, porém, depende do tipo de resistência. Objetivou-se avaliar cultivares de arroz quanto à resistência a O. oryzae, inferindo sobre efeitos de antixenose e antibiose no desenvolvimento de larvas e adultos. Em condições naturais de infestação, instalou-se um experimento bienal em delineamento de quadrado latino, com seis tratamentos (cultivares) e parcelas de 30 plantas (cinco linhas de seis plantas equidistantes 20 cm) irrigadas com lâmina de água de 15 cm. Por meio de amostras-padrão de solo, plantas e raízes, foram avaliados o número e peso de larvas por classe de tamanho, bem como o número, peso, taxa de emergência e razão sexual de adultos. Exceto para a razão sexual, as cultivares diferiram (p ≤ 0,05) quanto às demais variáveis, cuja relação evidenciou efeitos de antibiose à fase larval e possibilitou concluir que: a cultivar BRS Firmeza possui resistência a O. oryzae por efeitos de antixenose e/ou antibiose; BRS Ligeirinho é suscetível, abrigando alta população larval e propiciando melhor desenvolvimento de larvas e adultos; e IRGA 417 possui resistência do tipo antibiose, que restringe a taxa de emergência de adultos. O peso de adultos atribui maior precisão à avaliação de efeitos prejudiciais de cultivares de arroz ao desenvolvimento de O. oryzae.

ABSTRACT Insect-resistant cultivars are essential for improving the management of pests such as Oryzophagus oryzae (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), which significantly decreases flooded rice yields. However, the degree of benefit brought to the crop varies with the type of resistance. This study aimed to evaluate the resistance of rice cultivars to O. oryzae, inferring about antixenosis and antibiosis effects on the development of larvae and adults. Under natural infestation conditions, a biennial experiment was carried out using a latin square design, with six treatments (cultivars) and plots with 30 plants (five rows of six plants equidistant 20 cm) irrigated with water depth of 15 cm. The number and weight of larvae by size, as well as the number, weight, emergence rate, and sex ratio of adults, were evaluated using standard soil, plant and root samples. Except for adult sexual ratio, the cultivars differed (p ≤ 0.05) for the other variables, whose relationship evidenced antibiosis effects at the larval stage, making possible to conclude that: the BRS Firmeza cultivar has resistance to O. oryzae due to antixenosis and/or antibiosis effects; BRS Ligeirinho is susceptible to this insect species, resulting in a relatively higher number of well-developed larvae and adults; and IRGA 417 shows an antibiosis action, restricting the adult emergence rates. The weight of adults gives a greater accuracy to the evaluation of the harmful effects of rice cultivars on the O. oryzae development.

RESUMO A utilização de agrotóxicos na cultura da soja pode prejudicar o controle biológico, caso os produtos não sejam seletivos a Telenomus podisi e Trissolcus basalis, que são importantes parasitoides de ovos de percevejos. Objetivou-se avaliar a seletividade de 15 agrotóxicos registrados para a cultura da soja sobre adultos de T. podisi e T. basalis. Realizaram-se três bioensaios em laboratório, totalizando 18 tratamentos, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições. Os inseticidas (g ou mL do i.a.) imidacloprido + beta-ciflutrina (0,25 + 0,03), deltametrina (0,06), tiametoxam + lambda-cialotrina (0,27 + 0,35), acefato (1,87) e fenitrotiona (1,25) são nocivos às duas espécies de parasitoides. Flubendiamida (1,20), diflubenzuron (2,00), Bacillus thuringiensis (0,08) e lufenuron (0,12) são inócuos a ambos os parasitoides. Os fungicidas azoxistrobina + flutriafol (0,31 + 0,31), trifloxistrobina + protioconazol (0,37 + 0,44), pyraclostrobina + metconazol (0,33 + 0,12) e trifloxistrobina + ciproconazol (0,94 + 0,40) são inócuos a T. podisi, mas levemente nocivos a T. basalis. Os herbicidas glufosinato sal de amônio (0,50) e o glifosato sal de isopropilamina (1,20) são inócuos a ambos os parasitoides.

ABSTRACT The use of pesticides in the soybean crop may impair the biological control, if the products are not selective to Telenomus podisi and Trissolcus basalis, which are important stink bug egg parasitoids. This study aimed to assess the selectivity of 15 pesticides registered for soybean crop on adults of T. podisi and T. basalis. Three laboratory bioassays were performed, totaling 18 treatments, in a completely randomized design, with four replications. The insecticides (g or mL of a.i.) imidacloprid + beta-cyfluthrin (0.25 + 0.03), deltamethrin (0.06), thiamethoxam + lambda-cyhalothrin (0.27 + 0.35), acephate (1.87) and fenitrothion (1.25) are harmful to both parasitoids species. Flubendiamide (1.20), diflubenzuron (2.00), Bacillus thuringiensis (0.08) and lufenuron (0.12) are innocuous to both parasitoids. The fungicides azoxystrobin + flutriafol (0.31 + 0.31), trifloxystrobin + prothioconazole (0.37 + 0.44), pyraclostrobin + metconazole (0.33 + 0.12) and trifloxystrobin + cyproconazole (0.94 + 0.40) are innocuous to T. podisi, but slightly harmful to T. basalis. The herbicides glufosinate ammonium salt (0.50) and glyphosate isopropylamine salt (1.20) are innocuous to both parasitoids.

Resumen Drosophila suzukii (Diptera, Drosophilidae) es una especie exótica, endémica del Asia y actualmente considerada plaga de pequeños frutos y frutas con hueso en varios países de Norteamérica y Europa. En 2013 fue detectada por primera vez en América del Sur, en el sur de Brasil. A diferencia de la mayoría de drosofílidos, esta especie merece mucha atención debido a que las hembras son capaces ovipositar dentro de frutos sanos, tornando imposible su comercialización y exportación. A pesar que la presencia de esta especie ya fue confirmada en diferentes estados de Brasil, aún no alcanza la condición de plaga. Sin embargo, la simple presencia de esta especie provoca preocupación a los productores de pequeños frutos y justifica la investigación de métodos de control, especialmente el control químico, el cual ayudaría a los fruticultores en caso que el insecto se torne una plaga. Con estos antecedentes, el objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar, en laboratorio, el efecto ovicida y la mortalidad de adultos D. suzukii a diferentes insecticidas registrados para especies de la familia Tephritidae y Agromyzidae en varios cultivos. Los insecticidas deltametrina, dimetoato, spinosad, fenitrotion, fosmet, malatión, metidation y zeta-cipermetrina provocaron 100 % de mortalidad de adultos tres días después de la aplicación (DDA). Se constató que los insecticidas fenitrotion, malatión y metidation inviabilizaron 100 % de los huevos, seguidos por fosmet y diflubenzuron, que causaron una considerable reducción de eclosión de larvas dos DDA.

Abstract Drosophila suzukii (Diptera, Drosophilidae) is an exotic species, endemic to Asia and currently a pest to small and stone fruits in several countries of North America and Europe. It was detected in 2013 for the first time in South America, in the south of Brazil. Unlike most drosophilids, this species deserves special attention, because the females are capable of oviposit inside healthy fruits, rendering their sale and export prohibited. Despite the confirmed existence of this species in different states of Brazil, this insect is yet been to be given the pest status. Nevertheless, the mere presence of this species is enough to cause concern to producers of small fruits and to justify further investigation for it’s control, especially chemical control for a possible change in status. Therefore, the goal of this work was to evaluate, in laboratory, mortality of D. suzukii adults and ovicidal effect when exposed to different insecticides registered for species of the Tephritidae and Agromyzidae families in different cultures. The insecticides deltamethrin, dimethoate, spinosad, fenitrothion, phosmet, malathion, methidathion, and zeta-cypermethrin resulted in mortality to 100 % of the subjects three days after the treatment (DAT). Regarding the effects over eggs, it was established that the insecticides fenitrothion, malathion, and methidathion deemed 100 % of the eggs not viable, followed by phosmet and diflubenzuron, which also caused elevated reduction in the eclosion of larvae two DAT.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar a relação entre profundidade da água de irrigação e infestação larval de Oryzophagus oryzae em arroz irrigado por inundação. A profundidade da água e a infestação larval foram avaliadas no leiveiro superior, no centro do quadro e no leiveiro inferior. Os dados foram submetidos às análises estatística descritiva e geoestatística. A maior infestação larval ocorre em áreas da lavoura de maior profundidade da água, típica do leiveiro inferior. A distribuição espacial das larvas de O. oryzae é do tipo agregada e dependente da maior profundidade da lâmina de irrigação.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess the relationship between the depth of irrigation water and larval infestation by Oryzophagus oryzae in flooded rice crop. Water depth and larval infestation were evaluated in the upper levee, in between levees, and in the lower levee. The data were subjected to the descriptive statistical and geostatistical analyses. The highest larval infestation occurs in field areas with greater water depth, which is typical of the lower levee. The spatial distribution of O. oryzae larvae is of the aggregate type and depends on the greater irrigation water depth.

RESUMO Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar a ação residual de nove inseticidas e de um fungicida-acaricida sobre o parasitoide Trichogramma pretiosum (Riley, 1879), em condições de semicampo, sob telado. Plantas de milho foram pulverizadas com os agrotóxicos até o ponto de escorrimento, três dias antes da montagem dos ensaios. Ovos de Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller, 1879) foram ofertados, em cartelas de cartolina azul, individualizadas no interior de gaiolas. Os adultos recém-emergidos de T. pretiosum foram liberados na proporção de 1,6 fêmeas por ovo do hospedeiro alternativo. As liberações de T. pretiosum foram realizadas aos 3, 10, 17, 24 e 31 dias após a pulverização das plantas. Os agrotóxicos foram classificados quanto a sua persistência, seguindo-se a escala proposta pela IOBC. Os resultados mostraram que os produtos comerciais-ingredientes ativos (kg ou L ha-1) usados na cultura do milho, beta-ciflutrina (0,10), cipermetrina (0,08), clorpirifós (1,00), lambda-cialotrina 50 (0,15), enxofre (1,00), metomil (0,60) e tiodicarbe (0,15) foram moderadamente persistentes (classe 3) (16-30 dias de ação nociva) e lambda-cialotrina 250 (0,10), espinosade (0,10) e lambda-cialotrina + tiametoxam (0,25), foram persistentes (classe 4) (> 31 dias de ação nociva sobre T. pretiosum).

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to evaluate the residual effect of nine pesticides and a fungicide/acaricide on the parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum Riley, 1879, in field conditions. Corn plants were sprayed with pesticides up to the runoff point three days before assembling the bioassays. Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller, 1879) eggs were offered in blue cardstock cards, individualized within the cages. The newly emerged adults of T. pretiosum were released in the proportion of 1.6 female per egg of the alternative host. Releases of the parasitoids were performed at 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 days after spraying the plants. The pesticides were classified by their persistence, following the scale proposed by IOBC. The results showed that the commercial/active ingredients (kg or L ha.-1), used in corn, beta-cyfluthrin (0.10), cypermethrin (0.08), chlorpyrifos (1.00), lambda-cyhalothrin 50 (0.15), methomyl (0.60), sulfur (1.00), and thiodicarb (0.15) were moderately persistent (class 3; 6-30 days of harmful action) and lambda-cyhalothrin 250 (0.10), lambda-cyhalothrin + thiamethoxam (0.25), and spinosad (0.10) were persistent (Class 4; > 31 days of harmful action) on T. pretiosum.

RESUMO O milho é um dos cereais mais cultivados no mundo e para a obtenção de altas produtividades é imprescindível o controle adequado das plantas daninhas. Contudo, a utilização de herbicidas pode comprometer os efeitos benéficos da ação dos inimigos naturais, entre eles o parasitoide de ovos Trichogramma pretiosum. O objetivo deste trabalho, foi estimar a duração da atividade nociva de herbicidas dessecantes aplicados em milho transgênico ao parasitoide T. pretiosum através de testes de persistência. Foram realizados bioensaios em laboratório, expondo-se os adultos do parasitoide aos resíduos dos herbicidas, utilizando-se as metodologias propostas pela "International Organization for Biological Control of Noxious Animals and Plants" (IOBC). Os herbicidas foram pulverizados sobre as folhas das plantas de milho transgênico, que foram levadas ao laboratório para a confecção de gaiolas de exposição, onde adultos de T. pretiosum foram expostos aos 3; 10; 17; 24 e 31 dias após esta aplicação. Foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições para cada tratamento. A redução do parasitismo em relação à testemunha foi utilizada para classificar os agrotóxicos quanto à seletividade e, posteriormente quanto à persistência. Os herbicidas dessecantes à base de sal de isopropilamina (Glifosato® Atanor 48, Gli-Up® 480 SL, Roundup® Original, Roundup® Transorb, Roundup® WG, Shadow® 480 SL, Stinger® e Trop®), sal de potássio (Zapp® Qi 620) e de sal de amônio (Finale®) foram considerados de vida curta, tendo menos de cinco dias de atividade nociva sobre o parasitoide. Assim, liberações inundativas de T. pretiosum podem ser realizadas aos três dias após pulverização destes herbicidas dessecantes.

ABSTRACT Maize is one of the most cultivated cereals in the world, and in order to obtain high yields adequate weed control is essential. However, the use of herbicides may compromise the beneficial effects of the actions of natural enemies, among them the egg parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum. The aim of this study was to estimate the duration of the harmful activity of desiccant herbicides applied to transgenic maize on the parasitoid T. pretiosum through persistence testing. Bioassays were carried out in the laboratory, where the adult parasitoids were exposed to herbicide residue following the methods proposed by the 'International Organisation for Biological Control of Noxious Animals and Plants1 (IOBC). The herbicides were sprayed onto the leaves of plants of transgenic maize, which were taken to the laboratory for the construction of cages where adults of T. pretiosum were exposed to 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 days after application. A completely randomised design was used with four replications per treatment. The reduction in parasitism relative to the control was used to classify the pesticides for selectivity and then for persistence. The desiccant herbicides based on isopropylamine salt (Glifosato® Atanor 48, Gli-Up® 480 SL, Roundup® Original, Roundup® Transorb, Roundup® WG, Shadow® 480 SL, Stinger® and Trop®), potassium salt (Zapp® Qi 620) and ammonium salt (Finale®) were considered to be short-lived, with less than five days of harmful activity against the parasitoid. Extremely large releases of T. pretiosum can therefore be carried out three days after spraying these desiccant herbicides.

RESUMO A seletividade de cinco inseticidas utilizados em pomares de pessegueiro foi avaliada sobre larvas do predador Chrysoperla externa (Hagen) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) por meio de bioensaio conduzido em semicampo. O bioensaio baseou-se na contagem do número de larvas capturadas após liberação em plantas de pessegueiro tratadas com os inseticidas (% de ingrediente ativo na calda) deltametrina (0,001), fentiona (0,050), fosmete (0,100), lufenurom (0,005) e malationa (0,200). Para captura das larvas nas plantas tratadas foram utilizados dez cartões-isca contendo ovos de Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), sendo cinco fixados na copa e cinco fixados no solo ao redor do caule. Uma barreira de proteção composta por chapa de aço galvanizado foi utilizada em cada planta para evitar a perda de larvas. O número de larvas alimentando-se nos cartões foi mensurado durante quatro dias. Em função do número de larvas capturadas, o efeito de cada inseticida foi calculado e classificado nas categorias de toxicidade segundo a “International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants” (IOBC). Baseado no efeito observado, o regulador de crescimento lufenurom foi inofensivo, enquanto os neurotóxicos deltametrina e malationa foram pouco tóxicos, e fentiona e fosmete foram moderadamente tóxicos a larvas de C. externa em condições de semicampo. Desta forma, lufenurom deve ser recomendado no manejo integrado de pragas a fim de se preservar esta espécie de predador em pomares de pessegueiro.

ABSTRACT The selectivity of five insecticides, regularly used in peach farming, was assessed for larvae of the predator Chrysoperla externa (Hagen) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) by means of bioassay in semi-field conditions. The bioassay was based on the counting of captured larvae after release in peach trees treated with the insecticides (% of active ingredient in spray liquid): deltamethrin (0.001), fenthion (0.050), phosmet (0.100), lufenuron (0.005) and malathion (0.200). Bait-cards with eggs of Anagasta kuehniella (Zeller) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) were used to capture larvae from treated plants; five of them were fixed in plant canopy and five others left on the soil around stem. A protective barrier made up of galvanized steel sheet was used for each plant to avoid loss of larvae. The number of larvae feeding on the bait-cards was measured for four days. According to the number of captured larvae, each insecticide effect was estimated and classified into toxicity categories as stated by the International Organization for Biological and Integrated Control of Noxious Animals and Plants (IOBC). Based on observations, the insect growth regulator lufenuron was harmless, while the neurotoxins deltamethrin and malathion were slightly harmful; and lastly, fenthion and phosmet were moderately harmful to C. externa larvae in semi-field conditions. Thus, lufenuron should be recommended for integrated pest management, since it would preserve this predator species in peach orchards.

RESUMO Espécies de Telenomus e Trichogramma destacam-se como agentes de controle biológico em áreas orizícolas, e a principal estratégia para sua preservação é a utilização de agrotóxicos seletivos. Objetivou-se avaliar a toxicidade de agrotóxicos utilizados em áreas de arroz irrigado sobre Telenomus podisi Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) e Trichogramma pretiosum Riley (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae). Adultos desses parasitoides foram expostos a resíduos secos de agrotóxicos, em experimento inteiramente casualizado, com 25 tratamentos (24 agrotóxicos + testemunha) e quatro repetições. Os inseticidas clorantraniliprole, flubendiamida e diflubenzurom e os inseticidas biológicos à base de Beauveria bassiana e Metarhizium anisopliae foram inócuos para T. podisi e T. pretiosum. Os herbicidas inócuos foram: 2,4-D amina, profoxidim, quincloraque, etoxissulfurom e saflufenacil. O fungicida epoxiconazol + cresoxim-metílico também foi inócuo para esses dois agentes de controle biológico. Portanto, esses agrotóxicos são indicados para o manejo integrado de pragas, em áreas de arroz irrigado.

ABSTRACT Telenomus and Trichogramma species stand out as agents for the biological control in rice crops, and the main strategy for preserving them is the use of selective pesticides. This study aimed at evaluating the toxicity of pesticides used in irrigated rice crop on Telenomus podisi Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Platygastridae) and Trichogramma pretiosum Riley (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae). Adults of these parasitoids were exposed to dry residues of pesticides, in a completely randomized experiment, with 25 treatments (24 pesticides + control) and four replications. The insecticides clorantraniliprole, flubendiamide and diflubenzuron and the biological insecticides based on Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae were harmless to T. podisi and T. pretiosum. The harmless herbicides were: 2.4-D amine, profoxydim, quinclorac, ethoxysulfuron and saflufenacil. The fungicide epoxiconazole + kresoxim-methyl was also harmless to these two biological control agents. Therefore, these pesticides are indicated for the integrated pest management, in flooded rice areas.

RESUMO O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar o efeito residual de agrotóxicos, registrados para o controle de pragas de frutíferas de clima temperado, para o controle de Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky, 1855 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) em pomares de pessegueiro. O trabalho consistiu de dois experimentos, sendo que no Experimento I, a pulverização dos agrotóxicos foi realizada nos pomares e no Experimento II foi realizado em laboratório. Em ambos os experimentos, a avaliação do efeito dos agrotóxicos foi realizada em laboratório, através da liberação de dez gorgulhos por fruto e as avaliações do efeito dos tratamentos foram mensuradas pela variável número de insetos sobreviventes. Os resultados para os inseticidas [i.a (mL ou g.100L)] mostram que: com aplicação dos tratamentos em condições de campo (Experimento I), malationa (200) apresentou persistência a 1 DAT (dias após o tratamento) com controle superior a 80%, e o tiametoxan (30) até 3 DAT , enquanto que fosmete (200) e fentiona (100) apresentaram controle superior a 70% a 1 DAT . Em condições de aplicação dos tratamentos em laboratório, os mesmos inseticidas apresentaram eficiência de controle de 100% a 120 HAT (Horas Após o Tratamento). Neste contexto, a utilização de inseticidas por meio de pulverização das plantas deve ser tratada como uma medida alternativa de controle de S. zeamais na cultura do pessegueiro, sendo necessário o desenvolvimento e adoção de novas ferramentas de controle para o seu manejo.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the residual effect of pesticides sprayed on peach orchards on S. zeamais. The study consisted of two experiments, according to the method of pesticide application. For Experiment I, pesticides were directly sprayed on peach trees and in Experiment II, the application of pesticides was performed under laboratory conditions. In both Experiments, the effect of pesticides was assessed in laboratory through the release of ten weevils per peach fruit. The effect of treatments was assessed by variable number of surviving insects. The results for pesticides [a.i. (ml or g.100L)] have shown that application of treatments in the field (Experiment I), malathion (200) presented persistence at 1DAT (Days after treatments spraying) and control higher than 80%, and thiametoxan (30) up to 3 DAT , while for phosmet (200) and fenthion (100), the control percentage was over 70% at 1 DAT . Under laboratory conditions, the application of the same insecticides showed control of 100% at 120 HAT (Hours after treatment application). In this context, the use of insecticides by spraying plants must be considered an alternative method for the control of S. zeamais in peach, being necessary to the development and adoption of new control tools for its management.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a diversidade molecular, por meio de marcadores AFLP, de seis populações de Spodoptera frugiperda coletadas na cultura do milho, em diferentes regiões geográficas do Brasil. O DNA foi extraído de lagartas de quarto instar, e as reações de AFLP foram realizadas com sete combinações de oligonucleotídeos iniciadores. A partir das seis populações de S. frugiperda estudadas, foi identificado um grupo principal formado por três populações geneticamente mais relacionadas. As populações de S. frugiperda analisadas mostram alta variabilidade genética, com máximo de 58% de similaridade.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the molecular diversity, by AFLP markers, of six Spodoptera frugiperda populations collected in maize crops in different geographical regions of Brazil. DNA was extracted from fourth-instar larvae, and AFLP reactions were performed with seven oligonucleotide primer combinations. From the six studied S. frugiperda populations, a major group was identified, formed by three more genetically-related populations. The evaluated S. frugiperda populations show high genetic variability, with a maximum of 58% similarity.

Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar a seletividade de dezenove agrotóxicos utilizados na cultura do pessegueiro sobre ovos e pupas do predador Chrysoperla externa em condições laboratoriais (temperatura 25±1ºC, umidade relativa 70±10% e fotofase 14 horas). Os agrotóxicos foram pulverizados diretamente sobre ovos e pupas por meio de uma torre de Potter, utilizando a máxima dosagem recomendada para a cultura do pessegueiro. Foi avaliada a viabilidade de ovos e pupas, além da fecundidade e fertilidade de adultos emergidos de pupas tratadas. Os agrotóxicos foram classificados para ovos em função da redução na eclosão e, para pupas, em função do efeito total, conforme a escala de toxicidade proposta pela IOBC. A maioria dos agrotóxicos avaliados (8 inseticidas, 8 fungicidas e 2 herbicidas) se mostrou inócua (classe 1) a ovos e pupas, com redução na eclosão de larvas e efeito total em pupas inferiores a 30%. A exceção se deu para o inseticida óleo mineral, que reduziu a eclosão de larvas em 69,55% quando pulverizado em ovos e proporcionou efeito total em pupas de 36,22%, sendo classificado como levemente nocivo (classe 2) a ovos e pupas de C. externa

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of nineteen pesticides used in peach orchards on eggs and pupae of the predator Chrysoperla externa in bioassays carried under laboratory conditions (temperature of 25±1ºC, relative humidity 70±10% and 14 hours photophase). The pesticides were directly sprayed on eggs and pupae trough a Potter tower using the maximum recommended dosage for peach orchards. It was evaluated eggs and pupae viability, in addition to fecundity and fertility of adults emerged from treated pupae. The pesticides were classified to eggs according to reduction in eggs hatch, and to pupae according to the total effect into IOBC toxicity categories. Most of pesticides evaluated (8 insecticides, 8 fungicides and 2 herbicides) were harmless (category 1) to eggs and pupae, with a reduction in eggs hatch and total effect to pupae lower than 30%, except for the insecticide mineral oil, which reduced eggs hatch in 69.55% and caused a total effect of 36.22% in pupae, being therefore classified as slightly harmful (category 2) to eggs and pupae of C. externa

Na Região da Campanha do Rio Grande do Sul, o ácaro-da-ferrugem-da-videira, Calepitrimerus vitis (Nalepa) (Acari: Eriophyidae), é encontrado com frequência em vinhedos de cultivares europeias, desde a safra de 2004/2005, causando bronzeamento nas folhas. A dinâmica populacional de C. vitis nas cultivares Chardonnay e Merlot foi avaliada em vinhedo comercial localizado no município de Dom Pedrito, na região da Campanha, durante os anos agrícolas de 2005/2006 e 2006/2007, por meio de amostragem realizada em folhas das posições basal, intermediária e apical de ramos de produção. O pico populacional de C. vitis ocorre entre o final de fevereiro e o início de março, sendo seguido de forte declínio populacional. A infestação variou de intensidade entre as cultivares de acordo com o ano, sendo a cultivar Chardonnay mais infestada no primeiro ano, e Merlot, no segundo. Folhas na posição basal, mediana e apical apresentam níveis similares de infestação. Uma correlação positiva foi encontrada entre o número de C. vitis na face abaxial das folhas e o percentual de folhas com infestação.

In the Campanha region of Rio Grande do Sul, the grape rust mite Calepitrimerus vitis (Nalepa) (Acari: Eriophyidae) has been frequently found in vineyards of European cultivars, since 2004/2005 season associated with discoloration and bronzing of the leaves. The population dynamics of C. vitis on Chardonnay and Merlot cultivars was evaluated in a commercial vineyard located in Dom Pedrito town in the Campanha Region in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007 season through the leaf samples performed from basal positions, intermediate and apical branches of production. The population peak of C. vitis occurs between February and beginning of March followed by a rapid population decline. The infestation changed intensity among cultivars according to the year. Chardonnay cultivar was most infested in the first year while Merlot was in the second year. Leaves in basal, middle and apical positions presented similar levels of infestation. A positive correlation was found between the C. vitis number on the abaxial face of the leaf and the percentage of these leaves with infestation.
