ABSTRACT The Parque da Juventude, following the implosion of the Carandiru Penitentiary Complex, is examined as a cultural text and a site of remembrance. The objective is to critically examine the construction of memories associated with the Carandiru Complex and the strategies of forgetting that manifest within the Park. This analysis is grounded in the semiotic theory of culture, drawing upon research on social memory and the concept of flânerie. RESUMO O objetivo deste artigo é descrever o processo de elaboração de conceitos pelo geógrafo Manuel Correia de Andrade. Ao tratar da concepção de Nordeste, foi apresentando a divisão em três regiões: a zona da mata quente e úmida, o sertão quente e seco, sujeito a secas periódicas, e uma zona de transição, o agreste. ABSTRACT The objective of this article is to describe the process of developing concepts by geographer Manuel Correia de Andrade. When dealing with the conception of the Northeast, he presented the division into three regions: the hot and humid forest zone, the hot and dry hinterland, subject to periodic droughts, and a transition zone, the wilderness. RESUMO O presente texto tem por objetivo relatar os desdobramentos imagéticos resultantes da produção do documentário Antiga Amazônia Presente, projeto audiovisual de difusão do passado cultural da Amazônia, que teve como ponto de partida o acervo de arqueologia amazônica conservado pelo Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia da Universidade de São Paulo. ABSTRACT The purpose of this text is to report the visual developments from the production of the documentary Antiga Amazônia Presente, an audiovisual project to disseminate the cultural past of the Amazonia, which had as its starting point the collection of Amazonian archaeology preserved by the Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia da Universidade de São Paulo. ABSTRACT In this essay, we present an analysis of the transformations caused in Holocene agriculture by plantation. Since colonialism, processes were instituted that produced devastating changes on the planet, destroying space-times of refuges for people and other beings, which caused the Anthropocene - a period that refers to geological mutations resulting from human action. As opposed to this extractive model of bodies and territories, we will discuss agroecology as a correlation of practices, social movements and sciences, that connect modes of existence and ancestral knowledge of the peoples of the earth, creating possibilities for multispecies resurgence in the face of catastrophes.

RESUMO Neste ensaio, apresentamos uma análise sobre as transformações provocadas nas agriculturas do Holoceno pela plantation. A partir do colonialismo, foram instituídos processos que produziram alterações devastadoras no planeta, destruindo espaços-tempos de refúgios para pessoas e outros seres, o que ocasionou o Antropoceno - período que remete às mutações geológicas decorrentes da ação humana. Como contraponto a esse modelo extrativista de corpos e territórios, discutiremos a agroecologia enquanto correlação de práticas, movimentos sociais e ciências que conectam modos de existência e conhecimentos ancestrais dos povos da terra, criando possibilidades de ressurgências multiespécies frente às catástrofes.

ABSTRACT In this year that follows the Centenary of the Week of 1922, we propose a study on the need to expand concepts of modernity and national identity. From this perspective, it is worth analyzing certain hybrid poetics - such as the narratives of Hélio Serejo and the poetry of rappers Brô MC’s - coming from historically invisible regions, engaged in the defense of new aesthetic codes and knowledge for the construction of a model of Brazilianness free from colonial violence once legitimized in this country.

RESUMO Neste ano que sucede o Centenário da Semana de 22, propomos um estudo sobre a necessidade de expansão dos conceitos de modernidade, literatura e identidade nacional. Nessa perspectiva, convém analisar determinadas poéticas híbridas - como as narrativas de Hélio Serejo e a poesia dos rappers Brô MC’s - advindas de regiões historicamente invisibilizadas, engajadas na defesa de novos códigos estéticos e saberes para a construção de um modelo de brasilidade livre da violência colonial outrora legitimada no território nacional.

ABSTRACT The book presents the trajectory and work of caricaturist, illustrator and set designer Erasmo Xavier through personal archive documents, testimonies and newspaper and magazine articles. It is a revised and expanded edition of the first version published in 1989. From the various fragments presented, emerge multifaceted, potent and contradictory narratives about the artist and work, contributing to the recent revisions of Brazilian modernism.

RESUMO O livro apresenta a trajetória e a obra do caricaturista, ilustrador e cenógrafo Erasmo Xavier por meio de documentos de arquivo pessoal, depoimentos e artigos de jornais e revistas. É uma edição revista e ampliada da primeira versão publicada em 1989. Dos vários fragmentos apresentados, emergem narrativas multifacetadas potentes e contraditórias sobre o artista e a obra que contribuem para as recentes revisões do modernismo brasileiro.

ABSTRACT This work investigates the epistemological variations in the approaches to photography as an image and as a language. Based on Lula’s portrait highlighted on the cover of Folha de S. Paulo on January 19, 2023, we reflect on the conceptual bases of journalistic photography and understand its appeals to the imaginary. We adopt the philosophical approach, analyzing the contradictions between different theoretical perspectives. We conclude that photography is a particular way of understanding the world, in which it is not taken as a simple representation of the world but rather perceived as its intrinsic part.

RESUMO Este trabalho investiga as variações epistemológicas nas abordagens da fotografia como imagem e como linguagem. A partir do retrato de Lula destacado na capa da Folha de S. Paulo em 19 de janeiro de 2023, refletimos sobre as bases conceituais da fotografia jornalística e compreendemos seus apelos ao imaginário. A abordagem é de natureza filosófica, analisando as contradições entre diferentes perspectivas teóricas. Concluímos que a fotografia é uma forma de compreender o mundo, na qual ela não é tomada como sua representação e sim percebida como sua parte intrínseca.

ABSTRACT The Documentation section makes room for original texts by geographer Manuel Correia de Andrade and for images of books from his library. These are documents that are part of the immense collection donated to the Institute of Brazilian Studies, a collection that is in the process of being cleaned and catalogued. Excerpts were selected that show how this intellectual articulated research, culture and political and social context. Topics such as development, poverty, environmental issues, corruption and decolonial thinking appear - pioneering, as this concept had not yet been introduced into Brazilian academic circles.

RESUMO A seção Documentação abre espaço para originais de textos do geógrafo Manuel Correia de Andrade e para imagens de livros de sua biblioteca. São documentos que fazem parte do imenso acervo doado ao Instituto de Estudos Brasileiros, acervo esse que está em processo de higienização e catalogação. Foram selecionados trechos que mostram como esse intelectual articulava pesquisa, cultura e contexto político e social. Aparecem temas como desenvolvimento, pobreza, questões ambientais, corrupção e pensamento decolonial - pioneirismo, pois esse conceito ainda não havia se introduzido nos meios acadêmicos brasileiros.

ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to start the elaboration of an intersection between the perspectives of Beatriz Nascimento (quilombo), Rancière (surface and edge), Mondzain (zone and radicality) and Touam Bona (refuge, escape, marronage) in order to illuminate the surface of the scene of dissent as an interval space for the creation of emancipatory and hospitable poetics. The surface, the zone and the refuge offer us important elements to compose a powerful imagery to show how the arts of escape are articulated with the invention of imaging operations that produce dissent (and decolonization of the gaze) reconfiguring the surface of the common world and the rhetorics of inhospitality.
